The regular meeting of the
Huron -Perth County Roman
Catholic Separate School Board,
which regularly starts at 8 p.m.
did not get underway last Tues-
day evening in Seaforth until
10:15 p.m. because of prior
meetings.
The first meeting to cause
part of the delay was a commit-
tee -of -the -whole meeting by
the Board which ran into the
regular meeting time. Follow-
ing this the Board accepted an
invitation from the teachers
under its jurisdiction to meet
with them at St. James Separ-
ate School in Seaforth to hear
a brief clarifying the position
of the teachers with regard to
salary negotiations to date.
The first business of the reg-
ular meeting was approval of
the Board's Personnel Commit-
tee to continue to meet with
the Teachers' Salary negotiat-
ing Committee to continue to
meet with the teachers on the
salary negotiations. The two

Howard Shantz of Stratford,
chairman of the ad hoc commit-
tee on building projects, report-
ed the addition and the alterat-
ions at holy Name of Mary
School in St. Marys were compl
eted except for some possible
minor details. Ile reported the
parking lot at the school was
gravelled at a cost of $415, a
sidewalk at the side of the
school constructed at a cost of
$412 and a new ceiling and stair
tower added at a cost of $184,
Mr, Shantz said there was
still painting, tile laying,
landscaping to be done at St.
Aloysius School in Stratford,
the site of the other big building
project this past summer.
Air. Shantz explained to the
Board a proposed new subdivis-
ion being planned in Stratford
in the hlornington Avenue area
to house about ;,nr,(I persons
whore the hoard owns 1C. 87
acres of land, the possible site
for a separate school in the
future.
Members of the Board asked
if souteone from Stratford Coun-
cil could attend the next Board
meeting, to give more details
of exactly what the city plans
for the arca. Mr. Shantz said
lie would ash Alderman David
Rae if it might be possible for
hint to attend.
The majority of the menibers
of the 13oard agreed that the
whole lo. 7 acres of land should
be kept by the Board at the pres-
ent time and not sell any part
of it to the city.
The Perth Branch of the Ont-
ario humane Society will be
permitted to circulate forms
in the Stratford separate schools
seeking taggers for a Tag Day
the Society is having in Strat-
ford.
A request from the Hibbert
Athletic Association was refer-
red to the Property Committee
to come to some agreement on
assistance. The pupils at St.
Patrick's School, Dublin, use
the playing field each school
day as it adjoins the schoolyard.
Two new separate school
zones have been established in
the Village of Blyth in Huron
Countyand Hibbert Township,
i , in
County.
An ad hoc committee was set
up to look into the possibilities
of applying for a L.I.P. grant
from the federal government
being offered at this time
where projects may be carried
out using unemployed workers.
Named to the committee were
Ted Geoffrey of R.R,2, Zurich,
Patrick Carty of Stratford;
Arthur E. Haid, of R,R,4, List-
owel; and Donald Crowley of
R.R.2, Gadshill,

where her father operates a fruit

clubs and Junior Farmers club
