Mr. Kenneth Routledge, who
has spent the past few months
in the west helping to harvest
the 1923 crop, has returned to
his home in Zurich.
Mrs. Dr. O'dwyer, and little
daughter, Doreen, who for the
past five months have been
visiting her family in England,
have returned to their home in
Zurich.
A very pretty wedding took
place on Monday morning in
St. Boniface Church, when
Father Stroeder united in mar-
riage Mr. Remie Denomy, of
the Bluewater highway, and
Miss Louise Geromette, of the
Bronson Line, Hay Township.
An Exeter man has bought
his wife a horn to assist her while
she drives the vehicle from the
back seat. It is reported to work
satisfactorily.
The residents of Hensall were
startled last Friday evening
when the fire Bell began
ringing between 11 and 32 o'-
clock. It was discovered that
the dwelling of T. Drummond
had caught fire, which origin-
ated in the kitchen.

Mildred Scruton has resigned
her position as a book-keeper
at Mickle's Mill in Hensall, a
position which she has held for
uroaview News
Members of the Kinette Club
of Clinton entertained their
adopted grandparents at a soc-
ial in the public school on Tues-
day evening. Twenty-five res-
idents took advantage of the
outing and enjoyed an evening
of games and refreshments with
transportation being provided
by the club.
The Goderich Branch of the
Salvation Army visited the
Home on Wednesday and provid-
ed an hour of music and devot-
ion.
Mrs. Lila Storey arranged and
directed the "Family Night"
program this week with violin
accompaniment by Nelson Howe
of Cromarty. A square dancing
group, "The Toe Tapping Tucks
danced two changes and include
Darlene and Debbie Taylor,
Doris and Donna Lawson, Brad-
ley Bennewies, Leslie Lawson,
Roy Brown, and David Town -
sent.
There were dance numbers by
the Maloney sisters, Diane,
Joan, Elaine and Gloria; Vicky
Bennewies, Vanda and Sherry
Storey, Musical numbers by
Marlene and Valerie Glanville.
Marshall Stewart, a native of
Seaforth, thanked the entertain-
ers on behalf of the residents.

Nurse Hattie McQueen has
returned to Albany, New York,
from Hensall where she is a
night supervisor in a large hosp-
ital.
Mrs. Pearce, of Mitchell, a
nieve of Claude Blowes, of Hen-
sall, fell while visiting with the
Blowes and broke her hip.
Rev. Roy Geiger, of Well-
and, a former Zurich boy, was
guest speaker at the anniversary
services on Sunday in the Evan-
gelical Church, Zurich.
Gordon C. Turnbull, of the
Bluewater Highway, has sold his
farm to Mrs. Ernest Gaiser, who
has had it leased for the past
number of years.
Mr. N.A. Cantin, who has
been in charge of the new road
building on the Bluewater high-
way near Kincardine, has com-
pleted his job and returned to
St. Joseph for the winter months,

A midnight fire developed
at the driving shed on the farm
of NormanOverholt, on the
Bluewater highway. The Zurich
Fire Brigade answered the call
and helped to save other near-
by buildings. Several farm
implements were burned along
with the building.
Professor Alvin Surerus, of
Toronto, along with his siter,
Miss Meda Surerus, of the
Toronto teaching staff, spent
the long holiday weekend in
Zurich.
Two Clandeboye men were
arrested on Monday and charged
with the theft of a radio from
the Centralia RCAF station.
Henry Clausius, of Zurich,
and Raymond Kading, of the
Bluewater highway, were both
in Goderich this week where
they were called for jury duty.
Reeve George Armstrong, of
Hay Township, was the guest
speaker at the first meeting of
the season for the Zurich Wom-
en's Institute.

The second regional confer-
ence of the centre region of
Huron Presbyterial United
Church Women was held in
Bayfield United Church on
Tuesday, October 8, with Mrs.
Elgin McKinley, of Zurich,
president in charge.
Hensall Kinettes celebrated
their seventh birthday with a
bowling party in London•Wed-
nesday evening, with bowling
prizes going to Mrs. John Deitz
and Mrs. Robert Baker.
Hensall Legion Auxiliary
celebrated their fourteenth
birthday party Wednesday even-
ing, with 28 members enjoying

Mr. and Mrs. Milford Doerr
Zurich, recently were honoured
on the occasion of their 25th
wedding anniversary, when
relatives and friends gathered

A confirmed case of rabies ha
been reported in Stanley Town-
ship. A fox, suspected of carry-
ing the dread disease, was shot
by Glen Brandon, on his Varna
farm two weeks ago.
After experiencing a drop in
population of close to 100 last
year, Stanley Township coun-
cil was informed at their Octob-
er meeting that theyhad regain-
ed 70 this year.
