CORN FIELD ABLAZE - A stubborn fire on Monday afternoon in a corn field belonging to Law-
rence Becker, on the Babylon Line, Hay Township, almost got out of control before firemen from
Dashwood and Zurich were called to the scene. In the top photo members of the Dashwood depart-
ment are seen extinguishing flames along a fence, while in the lower photo members of the
Zurich brigade finish packing up to head back hone after everything was over. The flames threat-
ened a large field of small evergreen trees before being doused by the Dashwood men, who were
the first called to the scene.

Women met at the home of
Mrs. William Clarke, on Thurs-
day night, September 20.
Mrs. Allen Hayter opened the
meeting. Scripture and prayer
was given by Mrs. Bert McBride.
Mrs. Allen Hayter read an
article "Good News for the
Modern Man," Faith and Rel-
igion was the topic chosen by
Mrs. Allen Hayter with Mrs.
Elmer Hayter reading scriptures.
Prayer was given by Mrs. Allen
Hayter.
Mrs. Elmer Hayter conducted
the business meeting . Minutes
were read and approved. Cards
were read from Harold Pecl<,
Waal rneeting
Mrs. Walter Eckel and Bob
Hayter. An invitation to Zurich
October 4 was accepted. It was
moved by Mrs. Alien Hayter
and seconded by Mrs. Brian
Lempiere that the organizstion
have their annual meeting in
Oct ober.
A date was set for the annual
fowl supper, on October 24. at
$3.00 a plate. A bale is to be
packed the first two weeks in
November.
It was decided to entertain
for the November meeting
with Mrs. Davidson as guest
speaker. The meeting closed
with prayer by Mrs. Allen Hay-
ter.
