News of Kippen
Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Brownl-
ee, Gridley, California, visit-
ed with Miss jean lvison last
week.
Mr. and Mrs. Edgar McBride
and Mr, and Mrs. Stewart
Beattie, Wingham, who have
spent the past month in Western
Canada, have returned home.
Recent visitors with Mr. and
Mrs, Stan Jackson were Dr.
and Mrs. Brian Traviss and Alis -
son, of Waterloo, Mr, and Mrs.
Basil Trout of Auckland, New
Zealand.
Mr. and Mrs. Doug Hutton
(former Lois Jackson) have
returned from a two week holi-
day in Spain.

Mrs. David Schenck of Sea -
forth showed slides of Holland,
Denmark, and Russia and told
of her experiences in Russia
while attending rhe Internation-
al Tuberculosis Conference.
Mrs. Campbell Eyre, who was
in charge of the program introd-
uced Mrs. Schenck and Mrs. C.
Pullman thanked her for a very
interesting and informative
talk.
The roll call was to name
a city in Russia. Mrs. R. Kins-
man contributed a piano numb-
er and Mrs. C. Eyre conducted
a contest. Kippen will be host-
ess for the Huron County Rally
October 1, and committees
were arranged. A donation of
%25 was made to the Huronview
Van Fund.
Mrs. Grant McLean gave the
family and consumer affairs rep-
ort and Mrs. R. Bell gave the
educational report. Mrs. Stew-
art Pepper was hostess with Mrs.
Charles Eyre as co -hostess.
Mrs. A. Hoggarth was in charge
of lunch. Mrs. J. Drummond
gave courtesy remarks

Mr. and Mrs. Alex McGregor
and Mr. and Mrs. Dick Taylor
spent the weekend in Akron,
Ohio.

O.P. Lal, pastor of the Bal-
odgahan Mennonite congregat-
ion in Maydeh Pradesh State,
India, will speak at Blake
Mennonite Church, on Thanks-
giving, October 8 at 10 a.m.
Lal is a bishop in the Men-
nonite Church in India (MCI)
and is currently moderator of
that conference. He serves as
director of evangelism in the
Kanker and related industrial
development areas in the south-
ern part of the Jagdalpur Dist-
rict.
Mennonite missionaries first
went to India in 1899. The
Mennonite Church in India was
organized in 1910. Today the
conference is made up of 13
congregations with a member-
ship of 1, 830.
Mennonite missionaries in
recent years have been deployed
to other areas of witness and
service in India, and others
have terminated. The Mennon-
ite Church in India carries full
responsibility for the work of
the church. Church institutions
include a Secondary school,
middle school and three prim-
ary schools; also the Dhamtari
Christian Hospital and School
of Nursing and Shantipur Lep-
rosy Hornes and Hospital.
