INTERESTING HAPPENINGS IN
Mrs. George Bell has recently
returned from a holiday in
Manitoba. She visited with her
aunt, Mrs, Myrtle Tichborne
and cousin Clarence in Trehern<
and also cousins, Mr. and Mrs.
Danny Heide and family in
Winnipeg. Mrs. Bell was ac-
companied on her trip by Mrs.
Russel Phillips of Lucknow and
Mrs. Art Bell, of Goderich
Township, who spent their time
at Camp Shilo, Manitoba.
Mr. and Mrs. B.N. Cooper of
Guelph were weekend guests of
Mr. and Mrs. Eric Earl.
Mr. and Mrs. Glen Smith,
Ruth and Cara Lynne Candy of
Paris and Mrs. W. Arthur of
Lambeth, were with Mrs, L. B L.B.
Smith on Sunday. Mrs. Smith's
sister, Mrs. George Reid, of
Varna had been with her from
Tuesday to Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Parker
and Jennifer, London were Wed-
nesday visitors with his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Bill parker,
Mr. and Mrs. Fred LeBeau
and Paula, Goderich, were with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
John Wild and family, R. R. 3,
Bayfield for the weekend.
Mrs. L.W. Scotchmer spent
two weeks with her son and
family Mr. and Mrs. Howard
Scotchmer, Robert and Lori
and new grandaughter Carolyn
Jane,, in Chatham, and also a
few days at the home of her son-
in-law and daughter, Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Pounder and family
in Lambeth.
Registered guests at the Albion
Hotel included, Russell Riddell
of Rutherglen; Maureen Robinson
of Ireland and Ted and Ruth Jar -
main, of London.
Miss Norma Garrett and Mr.
Delford Altman of Orangeville,
spent the weekend with his par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Pat Altman
in Mildmay.
Rev. George Youmatoff, Rect-
or of Trinity Church, Bayfield,
is sending out an appeal to any-
one who may have photographs
or paintings of past Rectors of
the parish. He is asking for the
loan of these so they may be
copied for subsequent framing
ONTARIO'S PRETTIEST VILLAGE
and hanging in the Parish Hall
as part of the 125th Anniversary
of the Church next year.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Cluff, Rob
and Tara, London, were in the
village for the weekend.
Congratulations to Howard
and Nancy Scotchmer of Chath-
am on the birth of their daught-
er, Carolyn Jane on September
21, in Chatham.
Mr. and Mrs. John Lindsay
returned last week from a holi-
day trip to the West. They
motored to Gull Lake, Sask.,
via Northern Ontario and visited
a cousin, Mr. and Mrs. Earl
Switzer in Assinaboia. Mr.
and Mrs. Lindsay returned home
through the United States by
way of Montana and North Dak-
ota.
Other travellers who returned
to their homes in the village
last week after a vacation were
Mr, and Mrs. Charles Scotch -
mer and Mr. and Mrs. Jim
Fisher, who toured the Mari-

Mr. aire Van Der Ende led
the Clinton Christian Reform
Song Service on Sunday evening.
Members of the congregation
formed a choir with vocal duet
numbers by Alice Roorda and
Jim Baker.
Some of the programs were
changed during the week while
the new floor was being install-
ed in the auditorium.
Monday's program was held
in the T. V. room, and special
care with Marie Flynn and vol-
unteers, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer
Dale, assisting with the music.
Thirty-seven residents were
guests of the Clinton Women's
Institute on Thursday afternoon
at their September meeting held
in dining room at the Home. Mr:
Lockhart was social convenor
for the meeting with the theme
being, "Grandmothers." Mrs.
Paisley, a former member of
the institute, expressed the app-
reciation of the residents for a
pleasant afternoon.

into New Brunswick and took
the ferry to Newfoundland.
Also went along the Cabot Trail
and to Prince Edward Island
where they visited former Bay-
field residents, Mr. and Mrs.
Ian McRae. On their tour they
stopped in Bayfield, Nova Scotia
and Bayfield, New Brunswick.
Also returning home on Sun-
day from a vacation in the
Canadian West were Mr. and
Mrs. R.J. Larson. The Larson's
flew to Vancouver, B.C. where
they visited two weeks with his
sister's. They then motored to
Creston to visit a nephew from
'there they went to Calgary, Al-
berta and on to Saskatoon,
Saskatchewan; to Naicam to
visit Mr. Larson's oldest sister,
Mrs. Knutsen and several
members of the Parker family.
They then motored to Prince
Albert where they spent some
time with Wilson Parker and Par-
ker relatives in Melfort. Mr.
and Mrs. Larson flew home from
Saskatoon to Toronto where
they were met by their son -In-
law and daughter, Cpl. and
Mrs. Stan Smith of Borden who
drove them to Bayfield on Sun-
day and remained to visit them
for the day.
Mrs. Jim Butcher and Matthew
of Plattsville, spent a few days
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
John Lindsay. Mr. Butcher join-
ed them for the weekend follow-
ing his return from a moose
hunting trip to Geraldton. The
party of hunters of which Jim
was a member were fortunate
enough to bag two moose and a
black bear.
Sincere sympathy is extended
to the family of Mr. Elgin Port-
er of Varna, who died suddenly
as the result of a motor accident,
A large group of friends from
Farmington, Michigan, Detroit,
Windsor, London and Bayfield,
gathered at the Village home of
Mr. and Mrs. Norman F. Coop-
er of Mount Clemens, Mich., or,
Saturday for a surprise oyster
evening. The occasion being to
honour Mr. Cooper on his

The newly established Ontario Medal for Good Citizenship
is awarded to citizens of the province who have made
outstanding contributions to the welfare of others, without
any expectation of personal benefit.
Anyone can nominate a person for the Ontario Medal.
Recipients are selected by an independent Advisory
Council of Ontario citizens whose honorary chairman is
the Lieutenant -Governor of the Province.

Two busloads, carrying 80
people from the London and
Middlesex County Historical
Society, toured the village on
Saturday, last. Mrs. LeRoy
Poth and Mrs. A, S, Morton,
members of the local society,
pointed out historical sites and
buildings as they drove along the
route followed by the Walkab-
out held earlier in August. A
picnic lunch and social hour
held in Clan Gregor Square
followed the tour.
