Shaddick and Mrs. C. Christie, Hensall, have returned from a three week trip to Switzerland, Austria, Yugo- slavia and Italy. Miss Iris Alexander, of Lond- on visited with Mr. and Mrs. Carl Payne and Wayne. Several ladies from the corn- munity attended the Women's Institute Huron County Rally at Centralia Agricultural College, Monday of this week. Mr. and Mrs. R, A, Orr have moved to their new home in Exeter. Bruce Wilson of Vancouver B.C. visited last weekend with his mother Mrs. Gladys Wilson, in Hensall. UNITED CHURCH The younger group of child- ren from the Sunday Church School, led by Mrs. Norma Pryde and assisted by Mrs. Joyce Pepper, were the special entertainment Sunday morning in Hensall United Church. They sang four numbers. Laurie Pepp- er and Vicki Mann sang a duet and Theopholis Williams and Jerry Smith played bongo drums while Bradley Mann played the drum. Rev. Beck preached on the sermon topic entitled "Christ, the unexpected, " and the choir sang the anthem under the direction of Mrs. Turkheirn. Next Sunday will be Thanksgiv- ing, world-wide communion anc welcoming of members from other churches. ANNIVERSARY SERVICE Anniversary service was held in Chiselhurst United Church Sunday afternoon. Rev. Harold Snell, B.A., BD. now retired assistant at Exeter United Church, was the guest minister and delivered a very inspiring address entitled "The abundant Way." The Hensall United Church Choir provided special music under the direction of Mrs. John Turl<heim who also acted as the guest pianist for the afternoon. Refreshments EVE RY h N FO PAGE 3 were served in the lower hall at the conclusion of the service. INSTITUTE MEETING I-iensall Women's Institute meeting on Family and Con- sumer Affairs is scheduled to be in the Legion Hall, on Oct- ober 10, at 8 15. The guest speaker will be Mr. J. Marshall, a science teacher at South Huron High School, who will speak on "Ecology." The roll call will be "exchange a gard- en product." ST. PAUL'S SERVICE The Rev. G.A. Anderson was in charge of the service in St. Paul's Anglican Church Sunday morning, and will be the speaker for the service of Harvest Thanksgiving and Holy Communion on October 7, at 945 a.m. --0 Bronson north Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Pen - hale of St. Thomas spent Sun- day with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Penhale. Mrs. Marie Scott, of St. Thomas, visited with Mr. and Mrs, Harold Penhale one day recent ly . Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd McGee of Wroxeter, called on friends in this neighbourhood.. MS plan The Women's Missionary Society of Carmel Presbyterian Church held their October meeting Monday in the base- ment of the church. President Mrs. Rachel Schwalrn opened the meeting with a poem entitl- ed "Things can't always go your way." Mrs. Earl Campbell act- ed as secretary for the afternoon. The devotional of the fall Thanksgiving was taken from the October Glad Tidings, which was written by the Deaconess regional secretary, Mrs. Barbara Woodruff, and was given by Mrs. Blanche Dougall, and ass- isted by Mrs. Emma Campbell, Mrs. Florence Hyde and Mrs. Aldeen Volland. The roll call was answered by susberibing to the Glad Tidings magazine, and money paid to the Glad Tidings secret- ary, Mrs. Mable Munn. Least coin collection with a prayer was taken while rhe president read rhe Circle of Prayer for October. Mrs. Rachel Schwalm will be attending the Hamilton - London Synodical Executive meeting on October 4-5 in New bazaar St. James Presbyterian Church in London, She is the Literature secretary. Mrs. Elizabeth Faber, who is the literature secretary of Huron Presbyterial, had the (continued on page 4) Huron County Residents At the Regular Meeting of the Huron County Board of Ed- ucation held on September 17, 1973 it was agreed that all Huron County residents who have the need to call the Adm- inistration Centre in Clinton and for which a long distance charge would apply, will be allowed to reverse the charges to the Board.
