amage high in area accidents
On Monday at 6.30 p.m. a
car driven by Ann Mostrey,
Exeter, skidded out of control
on Huron County Road No 4
west of Highway No 4 and col-
lided with a steel sign post. Da-
mage was estimated at $350.
by Constable Al Quinn.
On Tuesday at 2 p. m. a
truck driven by Douglas Coup -
land, London, backed into a
street light pole on Queen Street
Hensall. Damage was estimated
at $150. by Constable Frank
Giffin.
On Wednesday at 4 p.m. a
wooden pallet from a truck driv•
en by Anthony Fulop, Toronto,
collided with a car driven by
Satiny Land, R.12.2, Bayfield,
on Highway 4, north of Exeter.
A gust of wind blew the pallet
from the truck and struck the
windshield of the Land vehicle.
Damage was estimated at $275.

Also on Wednesday at 7.15
p. m. the Crediton fire truck
driven by Charles Browning,
Crediton collided with a car
driven by JohanMinderlein,
R, R, 3, Crediton. The fire
truck was enroute to a barn
fire at the James Brand farm on
Sideroad 15, Stephen Township,
the Minderlein vehicle was
unable to yield to the fire veh-
icle because of cars parked on
both sides of the road. Damage
was estimated at $159 by Const-
able Bill Glassford.
• On Friday at 1.20 a.m.
a car driven by Gregory Reving-
ton, R,R.2, Lucan, skidded out
of control on Alberta Street,
Huron Park, and collided with a
hydro pole. Damage was estim-
ated at $300 by Constable
Bill Glassford.
Also on Friday at 12.05 a
car driven by Barry Tomlinson,
R.R.6, St. Marys collided with
a parked car driven by Richard
Moffatt, R.R.1, Granton, on
sideroad 1, Usborne Township.
Damage was estimated at $1,
600. by Constable Ed Wilcox.
On Saturday, at 9.35 a.m.

wood and collided with a hydro
pole. Damage was estimated
at $800 by Constable Don Mason.
A car owned by Mary Insley,
Huron Parl<, was stolen from her
residence in Huron Park. The
car was recovered in, Exeter this
week. An Exeter dairy milk
truck stolen from a local garage
in Exeter was recovered at Huron
Park, A television antenna and
a small gas engine were stolen
from Huron Park this week.
A car owned by Jim Warwick
Exeter was stolen from a Cent-
ralia parking lot on Friday
night. On Saturday, the car was
located in Exeter and two area
men have been charged by the
investigating officer, Constable
Bill Glassford.
Area hunters are reminded
of the following hunting seasons
and bag limits:
Rabbits- October 10 to Feb-
ruary 28--6 per day
Squirrel - October 6 to Dec-
ember 15-- 5 per day
Pheasant - October 10 to Dec-
ember 1--3 per day
Deer - No season in Huron
County.
Duck and Geese - October 6
to December 15-- 5 per day,

Eight volunteers from the
Goderich Township Women's
Institute visited the Home on
Monday to assist with the after-
noon activities.
Mrs. Driver with violin and
Mrs. Cox piano joined the reg-
ulars, Mary Taylor, Norman
Speir and Jerry Collins to prov-
ide the old time music. Five
new residents were welcomed.
Thirty-two residents with
September birthdays were hon-
oured on Wednesday afternoon
at a party sponsored by the
Ethel and Molesworth Womens
Institutes. Mrs. Pearson, pres-
ident of the Ethel Institute and
Mrs. Pearl Magee, Southampt•
on was a weekend guest with
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Turkheim.
Missionaries from Southern
Brazil, formerly from the Tav-
istock Area, spoke at the Men-
nonite church on Sunday morn-
ing. Kenneth and Grace (Bender)
Schwartzentruber and family
gave a very challenging mess-
age in word and song. In the
evening at the Blake Mennonite
Church further information was
given by them on their ministry
through the Christian book store.
Allan Gascho, Earl Yungblut,
Len Prang, and Ross Johnston
were on a fishing trip to Key
River and continuing their trip
to Meldrum Bay on Manitoulin
Island.
Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Schilbe
of Zurich, spent Sunday evening
with Mr. and Mrs. Ray Schitbe
on the occasion of the 25th
wedding anniversary.
Mrs. Anne Turkheim, Mrs.
Pearl Magee and Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Turkheim spent Sunday
afternoon with Mr. and Mrs.
Bill Billington and family , in
London.
M. C. for the occasion introduc-
ed the program which included
a Sing a long led by Mrs. Fod-
den accompanied by Mrs. Stan
Speiren, a piano, violin duet
by Cecil Bateman and Norman
Beirnes, accordian solos by Mrs.
Pfeifer and vocal solos by Mr.
Peter Dekker of Molesworth,
accompanied by Mrs. Freeman
of Gorrie. Gifts were presented
to the thirty-two celebrants
followed by a social half hour.
Mrs. Paisley who had the honour
of having the most September
birthdays expressed the apprec-
iation of the residents.
• The "Silver Strings" who have
been visiting the Horne regularly
since they were organized three
years ago entertained on Family
Night. This group of young
musicians from the Winthrop
area have become very popular
with the residents playing some
of the new tunes as well as some
of the old favourites. Mrs.
Ryan, a native of Winthrop than-
ked the entertainers.
