The trees surrounding us here are beginning to change to the autumn hues and as far as we can see, all the fields have beer cleaned off and are being prep- ared for winter. I am beginning to wonder if Mother Nature is not a bit confused since we have a crabapple tree on our back lawn that has lost most of its leaves and now has come into blossom. Nothing would suit me better than a nice warm autumn that would extend away into the winter months. On Tuesday morning, Mr. Lawrence Wein visited the Home and spent a half hour at the dining -room piano and ac- companied the residents in a sing -song. On Tuesday evening, the ladies of Zion United Church Crediton, sponsored the regul- ar monthly birthday party. A variety program was presented and Rev. A.M. Schlenker show- ed slides of his trip to Florida. Following the program, sand- wiches and birthday cake were enjoyed by all present. Residents celebrating birth- days during the month of Sept- ember were Mrs. Maude Berry, Mrs. Sarah Douglas, Mrs. Mary Doerr, Mr. Fred Gibson, Miss Jane Lamont, Mrs. Win- nie Miles, Mrs. Edna McFarl- ane, Mrs. Ada Porter, Mrs. Ann Rehn, and Mrs. Edna Traquair. We wish to thank Mrs. Ham- ilton of London for her gener- osity and taking time out to bring us such a nice selection of materials for workers in the craft room. It is gratifying to have people from outside our area whose family have come and gone still interested in our work here and in the welfare of our present residents. Our regular bingo night was held on Saturday evening foll- owed by refreshments. The Sunday evening Chapel Service was under the direction of Rev. Barry Robinson of Thames Road United Church. Mrs. Philip Johns presided at the organ and accompanied the choir who sang during the wor- ship hour, 0 Rabies clink The Huron County Health Unit, in co-operation with the Health of Animals Branch of the Canada Department of Agricul- ture will be holding free rabies clinics at the following; Monday, October 1, 2 to 8 p. m. at Gorrie Community Hall Tuesday, October 2, 1 to 3 p.m. Wingham Arena; Wednesday, October 3, 2 to 8 p.m., Lucknow Town Hall Basement; Thursday, October 4, 2 to 8 p.m., Blyth Old Fire Hall; Friday, October 5, 2 to 8 p. m., Clinton Arena.
