recently with Mrs. Rachel

Mr. and Mrs. Bert Evans and
family of Clinton visited Mon-
day with Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
Schwalm.
Mr. and Mrs. Desmond Ivey,
of Sarnia visited with the form-
er's mother, Mrs. Daisy Ivey,
of Montreal, who is making her
home with Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
Schwalm.
Mrs. Rachel Schwalm and Mrs
Elizabeth Faber attended the
Christian educational workshop
in Seaforth Presbyterian Church
last Saturday with representative
attending from Bruce, Owen
Sound and Huron County Presby-
terials. Miss Jean Gardner, reg-
ional resource spokesman, dir-
ected the program.
Lorne Eller, of Toronto,
is visiting with relatives in
this area.

Buttery of San Francisco visited
over the weekend with Mr. and
Mrs. Roy Parlmer and Mrs.
Anita Bengough and family.
This weekend was a big occas-
ion for. Mrs. Buttery (the former
Maggie Thomson) as she cele-
brated her 85th birthday while
here. It may interest some to
know that Mrs. Buttery was the
first child to be baptized in
Hensall United Church, then
the Presbyterian Church, in
September of 1888. Mrs. Buttery
along with Mr. and Mrs. Lorne
Thomson and Lester Fisher
attended Hensall United Church
service Sunday morning to mark
the event.
Mrs. Eric Luther was the
guest soloist at Hensall United
Church Sunday morning. She
sang two numbers while her
husband, Eric, accompanied
her on the piano. Rev. Don Becl,
preached on the sermon topic,
"Wait for the Lord." The flow-
ers in the church were from the
funeral of the late Mrs. Edith
Barnes held last week. Next
Sunday will be the Sacrament
of Infant Baptism at both Chisel-
hursr and Hensall churches,
Arnold Circle
The Arnold Circle of Carmel
Presbyterian Church met Mon-
day evening for their Septemb-
er meeting. After a pot luck
supper, president Mrs. Joanne
Bell presided for the meeting
and opened with a poem.
Joanne and Marg Baker cond-
ucted the worship with the
theme "Child of a King." The
Arnold Circle members offered
to help canvass for the CNIB
and are responsible to look
after tea tables for the bazaar
on November 3, and are also
responsible to decorate the
church in October.
A motion was made for
members to buy supplies for the
C.O.C. group. The meeting
closed with the Lord's Prayer.
After rhe conclusion of the
meeting members of the Arnold
Circle presented lvirs. Mildred
Ulch with a wedding gift.
Hensall WI pion events
Hensall Wome1 's Institute
met in the Legion Hall Wednes-
day evening for the September
meeting. The theme was Public
Relations. President Hilda
Payne presided.
The roll call was answered by
25 members with "Flints on good
shopping." Secretary Grace Peel
read the minutes and a finan-
cial report was given by treasur-
er Marg Ingram.
The following correspondence
was read and discussed: County
Rally will be held at Centralia
Agricultural College on Octob-
er 1; The group decided to inv-
ite Zurich Women's Institute
to the October meeting of
Hensall W.I.; Huron County His.
torical Society meeting will
be held in Zurich on October 1'7,
at 8 p.m.; fall bazaar, tea and
bake sale to be held at Huron -
view Home for Aged, October
3, from 2 to 4 p.m. ; an invit-
ation was accepted to attend
Dashwood Women's Institute
meeting on October 2.
Hilda Payne introduced Miss
Nancy Elliot from Seaforth who
spoke briefly on learning how to
read the 24-hour clock in the
Metric System.
It was decided to send a gift
to Maude lledden in North Bay,
as she has been a member of the
W.I. for a long time. Nellie
Riley gave a report as card con-
vener.
Program convenors for the
evening were Susie Purdy and
Pearl Koehler. Angela Duttmanr
favoured everyone with select-
ions on her accordian.
Mrs. Koehler introduced Bob
Reaburn, who gave a very in-
formative and interesting talk
on the public relations theme.
Courtesy remarks were given
by Myrtle Sherritt. Hostesses
were Beryl Elgie and Vera B rint-
ne ll.

Canada warns travellers that
prescription drugs often vary in
potency and quality in foreign
countries. For safety, travellers
should carry a sufficient supply
of drugs and typewritten presc-
riptions stating the brand, gen-
eric name and dosage of their
medicines. Canadians are also
devised to refuse injections in
pharmacies as the equipment
