of London visited Wednesday
of last week with Mrs. Laird
Mickle.
Mrs. Laird Ivlickle spent the
weekend in Kincardine, a guest
of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Cox.
Legion ladies
plan draw
The Hensall Legion Ladies
Auxiliary met in the Legion
Hall Tuesday evening with
president Mrs. Mildred Chalm-
ers in the chair. Mrs. Chalmers
installed Mrs. Margaret Mac-
Donald as a new member and
welcomed her to the Auxiliary.
It was decided to have a mon-
ey doll draw again for Christ-
mas. Mrs. Iva Reid gave a rep-
ort of the sports committee, and
informed members of a bowling
tournament to be held in Wing -
ham on October 3.
The guessing prize was won
by Annie Horton and the myst-
ery prize by Donna Allan.
Unit 11 of UCW
Unit II of Hensall United
Church held their September
meeting Monday evening at the
church. Belva Fuss chaired the
meeting and opened with a
poem entitled, "Autumn."
Sadie Hoy took charge of the
devotional, talking and living
our religion, showing faith
and sharing our knowledge of
the saviour. The roll call was
answered with foutteen mem-
bers with "Did you know?"
Unit II is responsible to place
flowers in the church for the
month of September. The gen-
eral meeting will be October 1.
The next scheduled meeting
for Unit II will be on the third
Monday of October, instead of
the second Monday as is the
usual custom.
Everyone read clippings on
India for the study. Hostesses
were Pat Venner and Ella Drys-
dale.
Unit IV holds
pot Inch dinner
About thirty-eight ladies
attended a pot luck dinner to
open the fall meetings of Unit
W of Hensall United Church
Women. After dinner the ladies
were welcomed by the leader,
Mrs. McAllister.
Mrs. Earl Rowe chaired the
program and gave the devot-
ional, the theme of which was
"Wisdom." Hymns were sung
with Mrs. Sherritt accompany-
ing. Mrs. R. Errat gave the
scripture reading from Corinth-
ians.
Mrs. Pearl Shaddick gave
meditative thoughts on the
theme and led in prayer. Mrs.
Sherritt played a piano solo,
and Mrs. Eric Luther sang
"Amazing Grace" with Mrs. L.
Mickle accompanying. Mrs.
Mickle led a sing song of fav-
ourite hymns. Mrs. Rowe pron-
ounced the benediction.
During the business plans were
laid for the general meeting on
October 1, and the thankoffer-
ing meeting October 4. Mrs.
Chipchase and Mrs. Shaddick
took up the offering which was
dedicated by Mrs. McAllister.
Jenny Gilbertson is a 70 year old filmmaker with 43 years of
experience. Presently she is filming a documentary for CBC -TV's
This Land on the Eskimo people of Coral Harbour, N.W.T.to be
seen this Fall. A native of Scotland Jenny has been fascinated
by the Canadian North country and for the last 3 years spent
many days filming among the Eskimos of the N.W.T.
