JOYCE PEPPER, CORRESPONDENT Cornelius Roobal, who has spent the past three weeks visit- ing with his brother and sister- in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Sim Roobal, returned to his home in Oud-Beyerland, Holland, Tues- day of last week, Mrs. Sim Roobal underwent surgery Thursday of last week at St. Joseph's Hospital in Lond- on, Mr. and Mrs. John Anderson have returned from a holiday in Northern Saskatchewan. Cindy and Travis Craine. held a Fun Fair Carnival in their back yard recently and raised $8.11 for the Crippled Children's F and which was sent to C.K,C.0.-TV in Kit- chener. Roxanne Lavery, Bren- da Rooseboom, Jane and Jim Pollock were the helpers in the booths. Cindy would like to thank all the children who came to the event. Harry Horton was the soloist for the service on Sunday morn- ing in Hensall United Church. The sermon entitled "Remember the Sabbath, " was conducted by Rev. Don Beck. This service concludes the combined services with the two congregations. Ser- vices next Sunday will be held in both churches. Danny, Randy and Barry Eck- el, R. R.1, Varna, spent a few days last week with their grand- mother, Mrs. Madeline Harburn. Mr, and Mrs. Ross Corbett and sons returned from a vacat- ion in Western Canada, visiting with the Jacksons in l-iigh River, Alberta; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Mac- Farlane and family, Calling Lakt Alberta; Mr. and Mrs. George Duchscherer and sons, Yorkton, Saskatchewan; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Preston and girls in Sund- ridge. 0 News of Kippen Mr. and Mrs. Ray Consitt and family holidayed at Pine Lake recently. Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Mellis attended the Gibson reunion at Homestead Heights on Sunday. Miss Janice Moore, Mitchell, Miss Lynn Alderdice and Mrs, B.A. Caldwell spent a few days with Mrs, Stirling Graham at Cedar Vista on Lake Huron. Bean harvest, with the full. co-operation of the weather man is in full swing. Mr. and Mrs, Fred Ashard from Walthamst on, England, are visiting their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Al Iioggarth. 0 Varna News Services in the United Church were resumed last Sundaywith the pastor, Rev. M. Morrison in charge. Rally Day Service will be held in the United Church next Sunday, September 9. The United Church Women will hold their September meet- ing on Thursday evening of this week. Allan treys and Miss Elizab- eth Keys of Ottawa were recent visitors in this area.
