FORMER RESIDENT OF HILLSGREEN
Area Nun diamond jubilarian
Holy Family Chapel, "The
Pines, " Chatham, was the set-
ting Tuesday, August 15, for a
Eucharistic celebration to mark
jubilees of a group of Ursuline
Nuns. There were five Silver,
three Golden and two Diamond
celebrants. Among the Diamond
Jubilarians was Rev. Sister St.
Angela Hagan.
Rev. Sister St. Angela was
born on the Parr Line at the
Hagan Homestead near Hilis-
green. One of a family of eleven
six boys and five girls, is the
daughter of the late James and
Anne Hagan.
In 1912 she took her vows,
vows which were renewed on
Tuesday, and received her
habit in the Ursuline Order in
Chatham with the late Bishop
Fallon of London, officiating.
Rev. Sister St. Angela was a
music teacher in the order and
'taught until her retirement two
years ago, in London, Windsor,
Woodstock, St. Agnes, Mich -
igan, Rockford, Alberta and
Dublin. Six years ago, while
at Parkhill, she suffered a
broken hip which caused her to
return to the Mother House in
Chatham. Following recovery
of the injury she continued to
teach at "The Pines" retiring
two years ago. Although in fair
health, she is confined to get-
ting around in a wheel -chair and
still very much interested in the
affairs of the day.
Marking the Jubilee occasion
was a Mass at 10.30 in "The
Pines" Chapel with Rev. F.M.
Bezaire, Windsor, as celebrant.
Rev. P.W. Fuerth, a former
pupil, now at St. Peter's
Basilica, London, delivered the

Some three hundred friends
and relatives who attended the
Mass were served a dinner honor-
ing the celebrants. Those attend-
ing from Seaforth were Leo Hag-
an, a nephew; Miss Flora Hagan,

Pioneer Park group holds annual
The Pioneer Park Association
held its annual meeting rec-
ently with 29 people present.
At last year's meeting it had
been suggested that Dr. H.
Kalbfleisch, president, investig-
ate the cost of an engraving to
be placed on the large rock in
the Park. He found that such an
engraving would be too expens-
ive and the meeting voted
to abandon that plan. It was then.
suggested that an inexpensive
plaque be placed near the rock.
Plans for this will be further
considered.
A report was given on the
Bayfield Rummage Sale, Mrs.
Melissa Kurtz and Mrs. Lola
Cook, conveners of the Sale
announced that the Sale netted
close to $800.
Mrs. Doris Hunter suggested
that the Association look into
the possibility of purchasing
with the help of other local
groups, the old Town Hall.
Investigations will be made on
that subject.
Mrs. Don Lance proposed the
plan that the Association buy
a plot of land in the Village.
This land would be left in its
natural state to hold for the
future. The Board of Directors
intends to look into this poibil-
ity.
Since there was much business
which seemed to be inconclus-
ive, it was proposed that another
meeting of the Association be
held Thanksgiving weekend.
It was voted to send flowers to
Mr. Hales Dresser who is in
hospital.
Miss Jessie Metcalf announced
new directors for the Association
are Mrs. Olwen Chapman and
Mrs, Gwen Pemberton.
The Association was reminded
that this year is its twenty-fifth
anniversary, and the birthday
events, such as the paint -in,
dance -band, Lambton Youth
Theatre production, Treasure
Hunt, and Kites and Stilts cont-
ests were well accepted.
