Funds for swimming ool The proceeds from this year's annual Bean Festival in Zurich have been earmarked for one particular purpose an eventual swimming pool for the commun- ity. Early this year the execut- ive committee of the Bean Fest- ival decided that all proceeds in the future years would be used for this one particular project - until it is completed. While no action has been tak- en to date regarding a swimming pool for the community, the executive committee felt if they would earmark the proceeds from the festival for this purpose, it might start something moving in this regard. Over the past years, proceeds from the festival have been donated to various organizations for community betterment. Don- ations have been made to the Zurich Arena; the Zurich Recreat- ion League for installation of floodlights at the ball park; the Zurich Centennial Band and the Zurich lvlinor"Athletic Association However, the overall profits from the festival during the past few years have not been that large, since a great deal of money has been invested in equip- ment which is used from year to year. The corporation presently owns two large bean cookers, a number of ovens for baking beans, a large quantity of steel pans, steps, a large refrigeration unit which has just been completed for this year, as well as other numerous items.
