Afternoon sports were under the direction of Mr. and Mrs, Earl Miller and Mr. and Mrs. George Keller. Results were as follows; 3 and under, Tracy Keller; 3-5 years, boys, Ross Keller; 3-5, girls, Kathy Ann Keller; 6-8 years, boys, Jimmy Keller; 6-8 years girls, Sherry Gibson; 9-11 years, boys, Ricky Keller; Shoe scramble, Robbie Keller. Oldest man present, Peter Deichert; Oldest lady present, Clara Deichert; person with most keys, Earl Reichert; Oldest married couple; Mr. and Mrs. Victor Reichert. It was reported that there had been one wedding and seven new babies during the past year. Election of officers for next year as follows: president, Clar- ence Stever; vice-president, Ed Deichert; secretary, Marie Deichert; Treasurer, Claire Deichert. Sports committee; Mr. and Mrs. Ron Deichert; Mr. and Mrs. Karl Keller. Lunch committee; Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Pepper and Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Eickler. Next years picnic will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Miller, Dashwood. n About people you know Mrs. Tom Meyers is spending a few days holidays with her daughter and family in Oak- ville. Mr. and Mrs, Quimby Hess are vacationing in Zurich with the formers mother, Mrs. Marie Hess. Mr, and Mrs, Wayne Horner, Cameron and Shelley spent a week's holiday camping at Pine Lake. Weekend guests with Mr. Ivan Kalbfleisch were Dr. and Mrs. Richard Aulerich, Susan, John and baby Beth. of Okemos, Michigan. They glow and sparkle when it's sunny and bright; but when the sun goes down their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within. I am sure you will agree how very obvious this is, especially for those of you who are involved with many of the same people day after day. On Tuesday afternoon the residents enjoyed a bus ride along the beach area and stopp- ed along the lake shore to view the manoeuvres of the pleasure boats and up -date themselves on the latest beach attire. Since the remainder of the week was so hot and humid, it was more comfortable sitting out some - Mr. and Mrs. rthur Miller and family and Mr. and Mrs, Gordon Lavery and farnily left on Saturday for a two week vacation to the east coast. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Aulerich of Whittemore, Michigan, spent some time with Mr. and Mrs. Len Prang. The Prang families enjoyed a Sunday picnic dinner at Cedarbrook Park. Picnic races were, throw stones in a box, throw a ball and a frisbie the farthest, penny scramble, two sides to pass apple over and under, treasure hunt, guess the length of rope and guess number of caramels in package. Jeff and Jane Gascho, of Nassau are vacationing with relatives and friends in Zurich and Goderich, while their par- ents, Mr. and Mrs. Don Gascho are holidaying in England. We are pleased to not by our resident's register that a number of our residents were out for sltori family gatherings and joy rides over the weekend. We are also happy to see so many vacation- ers drop in to visit with their families, old friends and neigh- bors during the time they are in the area. We are grateful to Mrs. Helen Thiel for the beautiful large ivy plant which has added green- ery to the divider in the foyer. On Friday evening, our usual bingo was conducted. The Sunday Chapel service was conducted by Rev. A.M. Amacher, of Zurich at 9:30 a.m. instead of the usual even- ing service. Mrs. Amacher presided at the organ and Rev. and Mrs. Amacher provided special music during the worship service. News of The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper was administered in the United Church last Sunday with Rev. Murdock Morrison in charge, also a baptismal Serv- • ice when Shawn Murray, son of Mr. and Mrs. Murray Morrison and Jason Willian, so of Mr. and Mrs. Brian McAsh were baptized. The children's great grandfather, John T. McAsh assisted in the Baptismal Service A joint service of the Varna and Goshen congregations will be held in the Varna Church next Sunday, August 5, at 10;15 Varna a.m. with Rev. C. Britton, of Hensall in charge. Miss Fran Carpenter, of Lond- on visited a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn Hayter. Mr. and Mrs. Murray Morris - son and son Shawn, of Ilderton, visited relatives here during the weekend. A. J. Mustard returned home last week after a tour through Western Canada and Northern United States, Mrs. Doug Robinson, Lorrie, Kathy and Carol, of Willowdale, returned home after.a holiday at the home of her parents.
