Ward Fritz, Leroy O'Brien,
Nesbitt Woods and Russell Preet-
er, all of Zurich, who have
spent the past two weeks at
Oliphant, Lake Huron, have
returned home and report having
a very enjoyable time at this
fine summer resort.
Mr. J. Hey Jr., of Zurich,
has disposed of his fine little
pacing horse, Little Hall, to
Mervyn Dufnion, of Goderich,
and received over $500 for his
prize pacer.
Mr. C.H. Joy, manager of
the Molson's Bank in Zurich,
has left for Eastern Ontario,
where he plans on spending
the next three week's holidays,
accompanied by Mrs. Joy.
Glenn Broadfoot, of Hensall
who has been relieving at the
Sterling Bank in Varna, for
the past few weeks, has returned
to his home.
James Green of Hay Township
has purchased a fine home in
Exeter and plans on moving
into it this fall,

Mr, Owen Geiger has a large
work force busy in his fields of
flax and onions and is providing
plenty of employment for a
number of people.

accepted a position with the St.
Marys Board of Education,
at a salary of $1500 per year.
The new house being built
west of the tracks in Hensall by
Walter Spencer is rapidly near-
ing completion, and when
completed will be a fine addit-
ion to the village.
Last Monday afternoon two
gypsy women entered the home
of John Baker, on the Town
Line, and stole about $300
from his billfold which he was
carrying in his hip pocket.
They replaced his billfold with
an empty one.
Employees of the Ontario
Hydro are busy at present ext-
ending the hydro lines south in
Stanley Township, on the Bron-
son Line.
25 Years Ago
James W. Bonthron, promin-
ent Hensall businessman, died
suddenly at his home on Mon-
day morning. He was planning
on leaving for Southampton
where he was going to spend a
short holiday.
Mr. William Decker is busy
erecting a new home on his
farm, just east of the village
on the Zurich road.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Geof-
frey have just moved into the
new home which they purchased
in Zurich from Mr. Ivan Kalb-.

and Ivan Kalbfleisch motored
to Toronto last week, where
they attended the convention of
the Masonic Grand Lodge.
The Corriveau Jobbers, of the
Bluewater highway, are busy at
present digging a number of,
wells for owners of cottages
along the lakeshore,
Mr. Norman Long, of Kippen,
met with a painful accident
recently while haying, and
suffered a broken leg.
The annual McSrthur reunion
was held on the lovely lawn of
Mr. and Mrs. Stewart McQueen,
near Hensall.
At a recent auction sale in
Hensall, conducted by Ed Cor-
bett, the property formerly
known as the Rectory was pur-
chased by Bert Horton,

Reward for alert thinking on
Father's Day came to Mr, and
Mrs. John Teevins, Grand Bend,
on Tuesday, July 23, in the
form of a $25. award from the
Post Office Department. The
couple had foiled a possible
robbery in the Post Office build-
ing on June 16.
At a special meeting of the
council of the Township of
Stanley, the contract for erect-
ion of a new fire hall in Bruce -
field was let to Lloyd Mousseau,
R.R,2, Hensall. Price of the
contract is $4. 925.
More than two hundred and
fifty Huron Riding Liberals were
in Bayfield Thursday for a riding
association picnic. The gather-
ing representativds of municip-
alities across the riding, was the
first in several years.
Two hundred members of
Zion Lutheran Church attended
the annual Sunday School picnic
at the farm of Mr. and Mrs.
V.L. Becker near Varna.
Mrs, Harry Strang, of R. R.1,
Hensall, entertained at a trous-
seau tea for her daughter, Mar-
garet Bernice Strang, whose
marriage to William Murray

day, July 20,

The Sacrament of the Lord's
Supper and a baptismal service
will be held in the United
Church next Sunday, July 29,
with the pastor, Rev. Murdock
Morrison in charge.
The auction sale, sponsored
by the United church men,
which was held in the arena
last Saturday, was a success,
as was also the U.C.W. bake
and rummage sale.
Mrs. Doug Robinson, Lorrie,
Cathy and Carol of Willowdale
is visiting this week at the home
of Mr, and Mrs. Fred McCly-
mont.
