West- lake were in Ottawa for four days the end of June, where Lloyd attended the Association of Chiefs of Police Convention. Commissioner and Mrs. Char- les G. Price, Mount Clemens, Michigan, visited for the week- end with Mr. and Mrs. Norman F. Cooper at their village resi- dence. Mrs. B.A. Quigg, Kim and Joey and Sheila MacPherson and Mark Scruton, all of London are spending a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Eric Earl. Messers Bill, and Gil Latimer and Miss Ruth Fuhrmann of Tor- onto were weekend guests with the boys grandmother, Mrs. G.L. Knight. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hovey, St. Marys, Mike Scotchmer and George Beatty, of Guelph; Mrs. Fletcher McLaughlin and family, Toronto; Mr. and Mrs. Bob Cluff, London; Mr. and Mrs Steve Scotchmer, St. Cather- ines; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Simp son, Cathy and Jim Welsh, London; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Barb- er, Sheila and John Haig, St, Thomas; Bob Barber and Linda, St. Thomas; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Arkell, Bayfield; and Mr. and Mrs. Don Sager, Goderich, attended a farewell party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred LeBeau in honour of Mrs. Jackie Moss who is leaving for her new home in British Columbia. The Ladies Auxiliary to Cubs and Scouts, Brownies and Guides held a very successful Bake Sale on the lawn at Dawna Westlakes Saturday morning. Through don. ations of bakedgoods and cont- ributions, they realized over $63. and are. very grateful to all those who contributed to make it a worthwhile venture. • Mr. and Mrs. Bi11 Armstrong Julia and James returned home on the weekend following a month long holiday in Califor- nia, returning home through the Canadian west. They reported a very enjoyable vacation, but were glad to get home to Ont- ario. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Dewar and David, Weston, spent the week- end with his sister, Mrs. Elva Metcalf. David remained for several days with his aunt, also with Mrs. Metcalf is Miss Marj- orie Monaghan of Toronto. The Goderich Laketown Band will be staging a performance in Pioneer Park on Monday even- ing July 16 at 7:30 p.m. Don't forget the "Event of the year, " an annual Pioneer Park rummage sale on Friday evening, July 13. Mrs. Gerald Pence, Stephen and Robert, and Mrs. Victor Balluff, Rochester, Michigan visited for several days with the former's mother, Mrs. J. M. Atkinson. Cpl. and Mrs. Stan Smith and Lisa, of Borden were week- end visitors with her parents Mr. and Mrs. R.J. Larson. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Makiris, Brian and Bonnie attended the graduation of their daughter Brenda, Tuesday, June 29, as a graduate nurse of Perth - Huron Regional School of Nurs- ing, Stratford. Among those attending the ceremonies were her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.. George Wright, London, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Makins, Bayfield Mr. Eric Schilbe and his mother Mrs. Albert Schilbe. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Parker attended the Herbert -Urquhart family reunion in Mitchell Visitors last week with Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Makins were the letters sister, Mrs. J.B. Melehan; Elizabeth, Christoph- er and Peter, Blairsville, Pennsylvania, also her mother, Mrs. George Wright, of London. Mr. Michael Scotchmer has recently returned from a two- month holiday on the continent. He visited Northern Ireland, England, Holland, Southern France, Iraly, Switzerland and from Paris, France flew back to England where he spent some time with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Arkell before returning to Bay- field for a short visit with his parents Mr. and Mrs. A.F. Scotchmer. For the past two weeks Mike has been in Bethel, Maine, on a training -counselling program for the University of Guelph. Mr. Harvey MacDougall rep- orted that 38 young bluebirds had been recorded from the first nestings and as bluebirds are becoming extinct it was a most welcome re ort.
