Eight bands perform
An outstanding array of tal-
ent was displayed Saturday
night at the Zurich Community
Park when the annual Band
Tattoo sponsored by the Zurich
Centennial Band took place.
There were eight bands particip-
ating in the event.
Highlighting the program
were two outstanding young
bands - the Dutch Boy Cadet
and Bugle Band from Kitchener,
and the Durham Girl's Drum
and Bugle Corps, from Durham.
Other bands participating in
the program were the Kitchener
Legion Pipe Band; the Forest
E, celsiour Band; the St. Mary's
Marching Band; the Brussels
Pipe Band; the Goderich Lake -
town Band; and the Zurich
Centennial Band. Each one of
the bands played several numb-
ers, and then both the Durham ,
and the Kitchener group present-
ed a precision drill. Also on the
program were the Alpenaires,
a group of the local Zurich band
members who have been playing
at various functions throughout
the area.
To conclude the program
each band played in a "March
Past."
Opening remarks were made
following "O Canada" by the
massed bands, by Jack Riddell,
MPP, Robert McKinley, M. P.
and Zurich councillor Fred
Haberer. CKNX radio personal-
ity Jim Swan was the M.C.
