Dobson was the speaker and the
soloist was Mrs. Gary Brenner,
Next Sunday will be a mixed
choir, and Rev. Dobson to give
the sermon.
Mx. and Mrs. C. Pullens of
the Pinedale Motel had 17 M. P.';
along with Lorne Henderson to
stay at their motel after a supper
at the home of Lorne Henderson,.
50 Years Ago
The Zurich millinery business
has changed ownership. Miss
Maida Routledge, who has suc-
cessfully operated the shop over
the past year's, has disposed of
the business to Miss Vera Siebert
Mr. John Sparrow, a well-
known resident of Stanley Town-
ship for many years, dropped
dead on Wednesday, at the age
of 65 years. A strong Conserv-
ative supporter, Mr, Sparrow
had spent the day taking part in
the election before dropping
over.
The body of William Tetreau,
who drowned last fall, was rec-
ently found in the St. Clair
River near Algonac, Michigan.
It was then brought to Grand
Bend for burial.
35 Years Ago
A well known and prominent
resident from Zurich for many
years, Edward A. Axt, passed
away on Monday at the age of
82.
The Hensall Citizens Band
are leaving the rooms they oc-
cupied in the Petty Block for
many years, and are taking up
occupancy above Rannie's store.
Arnold Masse, of St. Joseph
has been assisting for the past
few months at the Farquhar bar-
ber shop in Hensall.
Garnet Case, of Hensall, has
opened up a bake shop in Grand
Bend for the summer months.
At the band practice of the
Hensall Band, Errold Drummond
who has been the drummer for
the past number of months, was
presented with a pair of wooll-
en blankets and Fred Beer spoke
the words of appreciation for
his service.
25 Years Ago
Mr. Albert Kalbfleisch, pres-
ident of the Huron Liberal Ass-
ociation, will be one of the
representatives to attend the
annual convention in Ottawa.
Charles Thiel and Jack Turk-
heim have been in Timmins
for the past few days, where
they have been representing the
Zurich Lions Club at the annual
convention.
An impressive ceremony was
held at the site of the new
United Church, on the Goshen
Line, when the corner stone for
the new building was laid.
The 50 new wartime houses
being built in Exeter are now

Hay, a landscape contractor
from Zurich.
Mr. Victor Dinriin, principal
of the Zurich Public School,
arranged a bus trip to Toronto
for a number of pupils of grades
seven and eight.

A recount of ballots in last
Wednesdays liquor vote in Hen-
sall will be held next Wednes-
day morning, July 10, at 10 a. m
Clerk Earl Campbell received
word on Tuesday that his honour
Judge Frank Fingland, will con-
duct the recount at that time.
The council of the Township
of Hay at their regular meeting,
agreed to the request of the
school area board to hold a vote
on the issuing of debentures in
the amount of $ 80, 000 for the
building of additional classrooms
to the school located in Zurich.
The annual Bline Line Reun-
ion was held in Seaforth Lions
Park on Sunday, June 30, with
about 68 present. Mr. and Mrs.
Harold Hansen, Stratford, were
in charge of sports, Mr. and Mrs,
Wilfred Eickler, of New Ham-
burg were in charge of the lunch,
Mr. and Mrs. Ferd Miller were
taken by surprise last week on
the occasion of their 36th wedd-
ing anniversary, when Mr. and
Mrs. Roy Pask, of Grand Bend
Mrs. Tillie Tetreau of Zurich,
Mr. and Mrs. Bill McAdams and
Donald, of Zurich, and Mr.
and Mrs. William Ziler called
on them and presented there
with gifts.

Wayne, Donna and Jim Hoffman
were Sunday visitors with Mr.
and Mrs. William Merrier and
family, London.
Rev. and Mrs. L.H. Kalb-
fleisch attended the Old Boy's
and Girl's Reunion in Elmira,
Ontario, on Sunday. The form-
er was the guest preacher at the
special Welcome Back Service
held in St. James' Lutheran •
Church, Elmira, on Sunday
morning.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Merner
visited with relatives in Rochest-
er N.Y. over the weekend.

Many swimmers enjoyed the
beautifully calm, warm waters
of Lake Iluron this weekend.
Motorboat enthusiasts were out
enjoying themselves.
Sunbathers were hoping for
more tan but some stayed out
too long and were sunburned.
Many cottagers were in resid-
ence for the holiday.
Bob Liberty of Toronto was
staying at Hillside Cabins again
because he likes to go roller
skating in Grand Benfl, espec-
ially how they announce var-
ious ways of skating to good
music, not to mention reason-
able admission prices.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Green
went to Teeswater on Tuesday
to attend the funeral of Everett
Whitehead.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hess, of
Woodstock visited their folks,
Mr, and Mrs. Clarence Green,
and Ivlrs. Margaret Hess, Zur-
ich.
The Tenderspot Grocery has
two new employees, Mrs. Ken
Moffat, of Grand Bend and
Chris Miedema, from Ottawa.
Mr. and Mrs. Gary Quick and
family, from London, visited
their parents Mr. and Mrs. Wil-
liam Thomson.
Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Chapple
of Flint, Michigan, visited her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Doug
Martin.
Mr. C. Kennedy and Mrs.
Jean Weigand attended a wedd-
ing in Lindsay Ontario.
Jack Dickens of Exeter and Mrs
Maurice MacDonald attend the
funeral of the late Harold Hun-
ter in Exeter on Tuesday.
