Graduate at Hensall
After a delicious dinner at
the Legion Hall in Hensall last
Thursday evening, the gradu-
ates, parents and teachers tour-
ed to Hensall Public School for
a short program. Principal Ron
McKay welcomed everyone
and introduced Rev. S. McDon-
ald of Londesboro, who spoke

ates to go on to school and to
try to live a good life as best
as they can.
Herb Turkheim, area member
of the Huron County Board of
Education, handed out certific-
ates of passing to the 29 students.
Thirteen honour students rece-
ived silver dollars. They were
Janet Pryde, Tracey Turner,
Tonett Mattuci, Bernice Willert,
Tammy Baker, Brenda Pepper,
Beth Keys, Deana Reaburn,
Betty Lynn Koehler, Bert Wil-
liams, Greg Parsons, Doug Bell
and Brad Baker.
The honour of having their
names put on the school plaque
for being the top student went
to Janety Pryde and Doug Bell.
Doug Pearson, grade 7 teacher,
presented Janet with a cheque
for $25 from. the Kinsmen,
and Mrs. Mary Jacobe, a grade
8 teacher, presented Doug with
his $25 cheque from the Kin-
ettes.
The valedictory address was
read by Tracey Turner after
which gifts were presented to
Mr. McKay and Mrs. Jacobe
by Tammy Baker and Chris
Elliott on behalf of the graduat-
ing class.

AMBER REBEKAHS
The regular meeting of Amb-
er Rebekah Lodge was held in
the Lodge rooms with N. G. Mrs.
Irene Blackwell presiding and
being assisted by V.G. Mrs.
A deen Volland. It was reported
that cards had been sent to the
sick and shut-ins,
It was decided to hold the
picnic with the Oddfellows and
Rebekahs and families at the
Hensall park on July 15.
HENSALL KINSMEN
At the clsing meeting of the
Kinsmen Club, of Hensall,
held June 20, the club voted
to use the proceeds of the Fid-
dler's Contest to make final
payment on the arena tractor.
It was noted that the success of
the Fiddler's Contest is not only
a result of the efforts of the
Kinsmen Club, but also a large
vote of thanks must go to the
local merchants, the Park's
Board and those interested cit-
izens who contributed towards
this Kinsmen project.
The Kinette Club were the
guests of the Kinsmen at a din-
ner held at the Hotel Hensall,
and also at the wind-up barbe-
cue held Friday, June 22.
Other guests at the barbecue
included Deputy Governor Ross
Wilkie and members of his zone
executive, who carried out the
installation of the 1973-74
Kinette and Kinsmen Executive.

LISA MERRITT
At Oceanside, California,
on Friday, June 29, Lisa Darl-
ene Merritt passed away in her
2nd year. She was the beloved
daughter of Gary and Mary
Merritt of Oceanside, Californ-
ia, dear sister of Gregory, and
granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Carl Payne, of R.R.1, Hensall,
also great granddaughter of Mrs.
Eliza Merritt of St. Thomas.
The body rested at the Bon-
thron funeral chapel where fun-
eral service took place on Tues-
day, July 3, with Rev. Donald
Beck officiating. Interment was
in Hensall Union Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dave Kyle,
Wayne Payne, Dennis Lamport,
and Leo Merritt.
Obituary
GARRY GASS
The community of Hensall
was saddened this past week to
hear of the sudden death of
Garry Gass, who passed away
quite suddenly at Elmsdale, on
Saturday, in his 18th year.
He was the beloved son of Earl
and Norman Gass, Hensall and
dear brother of Brenda. He was
predeceased by two sisters,
Dedrah and Deborah.
The body rested at the Bonth-
ron funeral chapel in Hensall
where funeral service was held
on Wednesday, July 4, at 2 p.m,
with Rev. W. Jarvis officiating.
Interment was in Maitland Bank
Cemetery, Seaforth,
Pallbearers were Ken Schroed-
er, Ken Clarke, Bryce Taylor,
Bruce Taylor, Al Corbett and
Ross Gould,
Flower bearers were Larry
Wade, Brian Wade, Ronnie Gas,
Barry Henderson, Darrell Hend-
erson, Wayne Henderson, Randy
Dayman, Bev Hamilton Glenn
Cooper and Lea Desjardine.
