A very happy event took place
at St. Peter's Church, St.
Joseph, on Saturday, when Fath-
er Rondott united in marriage
Miss Beatrice Rau and Mr. John
Regier, of Seaforth.
The nomination meeting for
the provincial election took
place at Hensall on Wednesday,
when the various candidates
were formally nominated to cont
est the election next week. The
candidates were formally nom-
inated to contest the election
next week. The candidates are
Dr. F. McGreggor, Seaforth,
W, G, Medd, Exeter, and N.
Trewartha, Clinton.
The Methodist congregation
at Varna held their annual gard-
en party on Tuesday evening,
Harold Scruton, who has
been assisting in the printing
office at Hensall for some time,
is leaving for Detroit, where he
has accepted a position with a
large newspaper in that city.
Ed Gill, of Grand Bend, is in
serious condition with a bad
case of ivy poisoning, and his
condition is listed as critical.

A farmer's co-operative comp
any, with head office at Hensall
has obtained letters of incorpor-
ation, and has an authorized
capital of $25, 000 in ten dollar
shares.
Word was received in Zurich
of the passing in Kitchener of a

done a wonderful job of improv-
ing the property, and now it is
one of the finest athletic fields

The Mennonite people of
Zurich and surrounding district
are enlarging their church by
adding anew entrance to the
front of the main building. They
also intend making other improv
ements in the inside.
Mr. Leeland Willer, who has
been an employee of the Zurich
Dairy. has purchased the busin-
ess from the proprietors Allan
Gascho and Orville Witmer.
Mr. and Mrs. James Mundy,
of Delhi, formerly of Zurich,
have moved to North Bay, where
Mr. Mundy has been transferred
by the Bank of Montreal.
Mr. Aldington, of Varna, has
built an elevator to his mill,
which adds greatly to the app-
earance of the building.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Horton
and Mrs. Alex Mousseau, of
Hensall, have returned home
after spending the past two
months abroad with relatives,
P,L. McNaughton, of Hensall
has tendered his resignation as
assessor of that municipality,

but has offered to stay on until
a suitable replacement can be
found.

Voters in the village of Hen-
sall will go to the polls next
Wednesday, to decide if they
are in favour of the sale of
alcoholic beverages in a public
house.
Father Kenneth Dietrich, a
native of Zurich and now Prof-
essor of Ecumenism at St, Aug-
ustine's Seminary in Toronto,
spoke to the Zurich Lions Club
Monday night, on the subject,
"Protestant -Catholic relations".
Father Dietrich is Roman Cath-
olic observer in the World
Council of Churches, and told
the group how the council is
working towards bringing the
people of all religions closer
together,
The Zurich Lumber Kings
opened their baseball season on
Tuesday night with a thrilling
7-6 last inning victory over the
Staffa Merchants.
The First Zurich Brownie
Pack, which will celebrate its
10th anniversary next fall, is
offering to the public an even-
ing of fun, skits and singing.
Invitations are going out to the
girls who were Zurich's first
Brownies.
The members and friends of
the Zurich Women's Institute
presented their program to the
residents of Huronview on Tues-
day, June 11. Mrs. Newell Geig-
er was chairman for the program

group of members of the Hensall
Kinsmen and the Zurich Lions
Club combined their talents last
