Honored on thanniversary
Preaching in St. Peter's
Lutheran Church, June 17,
the Rev. Dr. Norman A, Bern-
er chose as his text: "In quiet-
ness and in confidence shall be
your strength, " written in the
30th chapter of Isaiah.
He had been at a Luther Leag-
ue meeting in Zurich years ago
at which the theme speaker had
applied the same text. Dr.
Berner said that this text seemed
to sum up the manner in which
the Rev. Lloyd Kalbfleisch had
served in his fifty year career as
a pastor.
The occasion was the celeb-
ration of the 50th anniversary
year of Pastor Kalbfleisch's
ordination. Now retired and
settled in Zurich, Rev. Kalb-
fleisch served parishes in Brant-
ford, Elmira, Sullivan, Neust-
adt, and Fort Erie. Since retir-
ing he filled a vacancy existing
temporarily at Brodhagen.
At the dinner following the
church service fifty candles
were lighted on five cakes by
Ann and Jane Tabor, grand-
daughters of Pastor and Mrs.
Kalbfleisch. During the dinner
the choir sang, "I may never
pass this way again, " "He's
only a prayer away, " and "May
the Good Lord Bless and Keep
You." with Mrs, A. Deichert
as director and Mrs. F, Haberer
as pianist. "Take the Name of
Jesus with you" and "My Red-
eemer" were sung as duets by
Mrs, Earl Deichert and daughter
Asa,

MEDITATION;
No chance hath brought this ill
to me;
'Tis Gods own hand, so let it be.
He seeth what I cannot see.
There is a need, be for each
pain
And He one day will make it
plain
That earthly loss is Heavenly

BLUE WATER REST HOME

This past week has been
quite enjoyable for sight seeing
and as a result a great deal of
enthusiasm has been built up
for bus rides. On Monday the
bus toured the area of Bayfield,
across country to Brucefield,
Exeter and back home. Again
on Wednesday the tour covered
Bayfield, Coderich and surround•
ing area. The points of interest
on Friday were Grand Bend,
Crediton and surrounding dist-
rict. As T mentioned previously,
sometimes the number of people
anxious to get out joy riding
out -numbers the seats available
and therefore we try to make
use of every pleasant day in
order to be sure that everyone
physically able has the opport-
unity to enjoy an outing.
Last Monday afternoon we
were pleased to have the R. N. A
students in training from South
Huron Hospital, Exeter, visit
and tour the Home accompan-
ied by their supervisors.
The regular monthly birthday
party for June was sponsored
by the Ladies of Dashwood Luth-
eran Church last Wednesday
evening. A variety program
was presented with a number of
children taking part, followed
by refreshments and the distrib-
ution of birthday gifts. The
gifts were the courtesy of the
Ladies Auxiliary of the Home.
Residents celebrating birthdays
during the month of June were
Mrs. Ethel Munn, Mrs. Isabella
Westlake and Mr. Peter Ginger-
ich,
We welcome Mr. Peter Eisen-
bach of Grand Bend who has
taken up residency with us.
Last Friday evening bingo was
enjoyed followed by refresh-
ments. This coming Thursday
evening, June 21, we will be
holding open house for any
friends or relatives of the Horne
and Residents. Mrs. Orval Stor-
ey of Seaforth along with her
students will be providing a
program in recognition of Sen-
ior Citizens' Week. Following
the program refreshments and
a social time will be provided.
