Professor Thompson retired 'last year as associate Dean of the Business School at U, W , O, but maintains an office there, where he co-ordinates development of management studies for the Caribbean, Our congratulations to Mr. Thomp- son, who is well known to many residents of the Village, spend- ing his spare time here at the "Century House, " which he purchased several years ago, Congratulations to Allen Reddoch, who last Friday grad- uated with a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Western Ontario in London. He will intern in Scarborough Gen- eral Hospital. Attending the Convocation exercises were his parents, Rev. and Mrs. James Reddoch, of Bayfield, and his brother Graeme, of Toronto. Following the ceremonies, the Reddoch Family were dinner guests of Mr. Ken Rhodes and family, a long time friend of Allen's. Mrs. Vera Heath was hostess for the Trinity Anglican Church Chancel Guild meeting held at her borne, Tuesday evening, June 5. The Chancel Guild are responsible for placing the flow- ers in the church each Sunday; for setting the Holy Table, and taking care of the linens. The Rector, Rev. George Youmatoff, demonstrated the setting of the Emmanuel United Church ZURICH REV. President, Mrs, J.B. Higgins, will host the next meeting of the Chancel Guild. Mrs. Heath served a lovely lunch. The June meeting of Unit I of the United Church Women, St. Andrews, Bayfield, was held at the home of Mrs. E. Metcalf, on Thursday afternoon, June 7, with 27 members present. Mrs. Nina Haw was in cliarge of the devotions, assisted by Mrs. Doris Reddoch and Mrs. Lulu Smith. Mrs. Vivian Morton spoke on Medical work in India, She outlined the needs and prob- lems which India faces today as she tries to improve the health standards of the nation. Mrs. Morton described the work being done by Dr. Willibold Marx and his wife, and then read us letters from a personal friend of hers, Dr. L. Rao. Dr. Rao is Dean of rhe Faculty of Medicine at Ludhiana College, and became one of Mrs. Morton's friends while on leave of absence in Canada to study new techniques in medicine. We felt very close to this Indian woman as she struggles with the problems and needs of her medical students and staff at this Christian Missior University. After a brief busin- ess meeting, a delicious lunch was served by Mrs. E. Greer, Mrs. J. Greer and Mrs. M. Scotchmer. SENIOR CITIZENS The postponed June meeting of the Senior Citizens was held in the Municipal Building, Fri- day evening June 8, presided over by the president, Clair Merrier. The meeting opened with the National Anthem and the Lord's Prayer in unison. Twenty-seven members ans- wered the roll call, including our first president, Mrs. May Hopson now residing in Clinton, but still a member of 'our grcup. We also welcomed two visitors Mrs. Cummings of Clinton and Mrs. Duggan of our Village. The minutes of the last meet- ing were read by the secretary, Mrs. Margaret Larson, and were approved. Flowers and a card Have been sent to Mrs. Ken Lynn who is recovering following surgery in Goderielt General llospital. Huronview has very kindly given us an invitation to visit them on Thursday afternoon, June 12, and supply a short program. This program to be left to Mrs. J.B. lliggins and her group of male singers. The bus trip for Thursday, June 28 was finalized; going to the Safari and into Brantford to see the Mohawk Cemetery and the residence of Alexander Graham Bell. We plan to come home by Exeter, where arrange- ments are being made for din- ner. A picnic lunch taken along with us will be the order for noonhour. All are to meet the bus in front of the United Church Bayfield, at 5 a.m. sharp. A pot -luck supper will be held either in Clan Gregor Squan or in the Municipal Building according to the weather on Tuet day evening July 10, at ( p.m. The meeting adjourned and cards were played with prizes going to Mrs, Duggan, Mrs. J.B. Iliggins, Harry Baiter and Lindsay Smith. Mrs. Cummings won the lone hand prize. Happy June Birthday wishes were sung to Harry Baiter and his twin sister Mrs, L. W. Scot- chmer and Mrs. Vina Parker, followed by the usual lovely lunch. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Ducharme Bayfield returned home on Sunday after a two-week visit in Detroit, Michigan and Windsor with their children and other relatives. Best wishes to Mrs. R. Roy Fitzsimons, who returned home Monday, June 4 after 10 days in Clinton Public Hospital. All young people and the young at heart are invited to come out to "Flardknox" Coffee Mouse which is opening for the summer season, Friday evening, June 15, from 5 ro 12 p.m. in rite basement of Knox Presbyter- ian Church, Bayfield. Guest singer will be Ian Ellis, of Kingston, Jainaica, and Toronto I'1r. Ellis is a soloist with "Soul Foundation" in Toronto.Admiss- ion is free and coffee, do -nuts and pop will be available, Mr. Norman F. Cooper, Mount Clemens, Michigan, spent the weekend at his Village residence. Miss Mieke DeSteur of Middle burg, Holland, is visiting for a month with her brother -on -law and sister, Mr, and Mrs. James Francis, and nephew Robert. Mr. and Mrs. R. Roy Fitzsim- ons attended Mr, and Mrs. Fred Hudie's Gulden Wedding Anniv- ersary on Sunday afternoon in Clinton, Congratulations to Mr. -and Mrs. Richard Graham of Goder- ich (nee Mariam Francis of Bay- field) on the birth of their daughter, Alarm Llowin, born Friday evening in Alexander Marine and General Hospital, Goderich. Proud grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Reginald Francis, of Bayfield, Mr. Bernard Sturgeon, Orangeville, visited with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Sturgeon on Wednesday, while on a business trip to Sarnia. Mr. and Mrs. John Hughes and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Makins, took a motor trip to Strathroy, Petrolia and over to Corunna on the River St. Clair.
