ALL ABOUT BAYFIELD INTERESTING HAPPENINGS IN ONTARIO'S PRETTIEST VILLAGE The First Bayfield Brownie Pack, finished their 1972-73 term with an enrollment and Fly -up. Golden hand badges were presented to Jo -Anne Stur- geon and Cindy Cluff, and Gold- en Bar badges to Rebecca Faw- cett, Dawn Merner, Mary Lynn Talbot, Lori Talbot, Ann Haw, Cindy Talbot, Cathy Leppington and Cindy Cluff, by L.A. pres- ident, Mrs. Rosemarie Taman. Service Stars were given to the girls by Tawny Owl Ruthann Knights. The Gnomes and Pixies Sixers received recognition for the best sixes during the season. They `are led by Jo -Anne Stur- geon and Wendy Penhale, Pathfinder Badges were pres- ented by Brown Owl Carol Pen - hale and Andrea Piecarz, Anne Talbot and Joanne Chapman, and Booklovers Badges to Ruthie DeRuyter, Cathy Leppington, Joanne Chapman and Mary Lynn Talbot. Andrea Piecarz was enrolled as a brownie in the Pack, but will be leaving Bayfield for the summer and will be missed by the pack. Fly -Up for Cindy Cluff and Jo -Anne Sturgeon took place in the form of trees as the Pack formed branches and Anne Tal- bot dropped snowflakes on the girls as they came out from under the trees and they were .given their Brownie Wings. Following this Fluffy Owl Don- elda Sturgeon who is retiring after three years with the Pack was presented with a rosebush by Wendy Penbale and a short address was read by Rebecca Fawcett on behalf of the Brown- ies, Marilyn Haw, secretary of the L.A. presented Donelda with two Guide teaspoons. Fluffy Owl Donelda expressed her surprise and thanks to all. Rosemarie Taman then spoke briefly to all and presented a lovely maple leaf pin to each of the leaders from the L.A. The Sixers Jo -Anne Sturgeon, Anne Talbot, Wendy Penhale and Joanne Chapman each rec- eived a Brownie Autograph book and Cathy Leppington and Anne Talbot who had only miss- ed two meetings each received a Brownie Compass. The meet - in g closed with the Brownie Song and Prayer and lunch was served by the Ladies Auxiliary. The Bayfield Brownie Pack will be calling at each home in the Village on Saturday, June 16 to distribute brochures for the Imperial Bank of Com- merce, Bayfield Branch. Summer is again approaching and also time for the annual Pioneer Park Rummage Sale. Mrs. Melisse Kurtz and Mrs. Lola Cook are once again conv- ening the event and are plann- ing it for Friday evening July 13. The readers are asked to save their rummage for this event as the association are hoping for another successful sale this year. With the help of about a doz- en young people the flower beds have all been dug up, cleaned and replanted with flowers, to help beautify Clan Gregor Square. An appeal is being sent out to help maintain the flower beds during the summer. Int- erested citizens or groups are welcome, and a calendar has been posted in the Town Crier where you can mark the week that you would like to look after the flower beds. If you would like more information on this project, Mrs. Don Lance or Mrs. Joe Chapman would be happy to oblige. Messers Steven and Michael Farris were in Toronto this week where Steven received his Bach- elor of Arts degree in History and English from Trinity College, University of Toronto; and Michael was awarded athletic and Student Government prizes from the University of Toronto Schools. Mr, and Mrs. W.C. Parker and Jennifer, London, were with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Parker, on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Ron Bowers and Sharon, Glen Alien, were Sat- urday guests of Mr. Percy Ren- ner and family. Mr. Bob Cluff, London, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Fred LeBeau, Miss Patricia White, Toronto Two miles north of Bayfield - Highway 21, one mile east on Telephone Road. EX GAIN! Collier, London; and Mr. Alan Armstrong who has completed his third year of a four year Applied Science course at the University of Waterloo, were weekend visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Armstrong, R, R, 3, Bayfield. Mr. Renouf Johns, Mount Clemens, Michigan, spent the weekend at his Village resid- ence. Mr, and Mrs, Dave Watson, Sudbury, were weekend guests with Mr. and Mrs. Rob Irwin. Mr. Norman F. Cooper, Mount Clemens, Michigan, was at his home in the Village for the weekend. Miss Sibyl Frei, London, daughter of Dr. J.V. Frei, can- cer research specialist, spent the weekend with Miss Danielle Simons. Sibyl and her family leave in mid-June for England where her Father will spend his sabbatical year.
