Zurich instit ite pleased nth ne steps The Zurich Women's Institute met in Hay Township Hall on Monday, May 7, with 20 members present with Mrs. Harold Thiel as chairlady. Mrs. L. Klopp gave an interesting paper on the value of honey as a food. Mrs. H. Thiel recited a poem "The Touch of the Master's Hand." Mrs. E. Consist read an article from a daily paper on Ways we can help to prevent pollution. All the members expressed their appreciation to the Hay Township council for the new steps which had been built in the hall entrance. An interesting display of dolls, was arranged by Mrs. Len Prang. CONTACT Campbell McKinley RR 1, ZURICH Phons.262-5430 Lutheran Church welcomes new members Following the regular service on the second Sunday after Easter at St, Peter's Church, Zurich, the congregation met for a social hour and luncheon to honour the catechetical class which had been confirmed on Palm Sunday. The catechet- ical class sessions covered a two year period in which a study of Christian faith and doctrine is made along the pat- tern of the Ten Commandments, The Apostles' Creed, The Lord's Prayer, and the Sacra- ments of Holy Baptism and Holy Communion. Martin Luther's Small Catechism is used as the general outline for the course. Ivan Kalbfleisch, chairman of the Church Council, was master of ceremonies for the reception. An inspiring address was given by Ken Baker, father of one of the girls in the class. Mr. Baker encouraged the young people to stay with the faith and the Church wherever the course of their lives may take them. Carl Willert, chairman of the Christian Education Commit• tee, congratulated the class on completion of the two years of THURSDAY, MAY 10, 19.7.5 study and advised the members to continue attending the Sun- day Church School classes each Sunday. Others honoured in the recept- ion were the adult members re- ceived by transfer during the past year. Some of these had been through shorter orientation courses in their preparation. Mrs. Claire Deichert addres- sed the new members and the confirmands on behalf of the Lutheran Church Women. Fred Schilbe thanked the pastor for his part in their instruction speaking on behalf of the eleven members of the catechetieal class. Adults received from other communities were Mrs. R. Schilbe, Mrs. L. Schilbe, Mrs. C. Lawrence, and Mrs. B. Decker as well as Mr. and Mrs. F. Foell. The catechumens confirmed are Fred and Brenda Schilbe, Robert and Elizabeth Pertschy, Jennifer Decker, Catherine Weido, Donna Baker, William Deichert, John Haggitt, Janet Bettke, and Marlene Fields. Musical . entertainment was provided by Mrs. Earl Deichert and daughters Elizabeth and Susan, who sang "Amazing Grace" and "Have Thine Own Way, Lord." Church councilmen waited on the tables.
