At the United Church morn-
ing Palm Sunday service, Rev.
Charles Scott, of London is the
special speaker on "Alcohol and
Drugs."
On Wednesday, 14 year old
Paul Gunning, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Ron Gunning was rushed to
Victoria Hospital, London for
special care. The doctors found
he had a condition that may
have been there since birth and
it could occur between 14 to 16
years. 1 -le has to be kept quiet
and he is making some progress
though still in a serious condit-
ion.
On Thursday afternoon, slide
pictures on the Easter Theme of
the Crucifixion were shown at
the meeting of the United
Church Women.
Lion's President, Paul Couse
made the draw for the winning
ticket won by Doug Courtney
for about $161.
Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Vesci of
the Pizza Patio returned from a
holiday in Hallandale® Florida.
Girl Guides
present cords
Three girls, members of the
Zurich Girl Guides, will be
presented with their Gold Cords
on Tuesday night, April 24, at
a ceremony scheduled for the
Hay Township Hall, Zurich.
Later in the evening, at 8:30
p.m., a public meeting of int-
erested parents is being held
at the same place to re -organ-
ize the Girl Guide movement
in this area. All parents. esp-
ecially mothers, are urged to
attend this important meeting,

Mr. and Mrs. Murray Doug-
las of Wondergrove Cabins are
home again from a holiday in
Winterhaven, Florida.
Mr, and Mrs. Ray Flear enj-
oyed their holiday at Indian
Rocks Beach, Florida but are
glad to be home too.
Rev. and Mrs. Willis, visited
Lakeland, Florida, and found
people there neighbourly and
busy with new craft ideas.
Mrs. Irene Hayter is back
hairdressing again after her
winter vacation in Florida.
Mrs. Pearl Hooper, Mrs. Martha
McNair, of Ilderton and Mrs.
Irene Hayter all left together
and area

in January and returned this
week.
Last Friday a bus load- of
fifty Lions and their wives
left at 4 p.m. to go to the
rehearsal of the "Tommy Hunt-
er Show" at CBC, Toronto.
They returned at 2 a.m. At
the next show on Friday, they
may be seen in the audience.
Two wedding showers in honor
of bride -elect Dorene Baker
have been given, one by Mrs.
Olive Webb, and one by Mis.
William Hay of Southcott Pines.
The wedding will be on April
28, at the United Church, Grand
Bend.
Obituary
JOHN H.. KOCHEM
A former resident of Zurich
for many years, John Henry
Kochem passed away. in Victoria
Hospital, London, on Tuesday,
April 10, in his 66th year. He
had been a resident of London
for some years.
Surviving are one brother,
Franz, of Baden, and two sister's,
Mrs. Percy (Mary) Weido, p,nd
Mrs. Edward (Edna) Wettlaufer,
both of Kitchener.
Funeral 'service was held on
Friday, April 13, at the Westlake
funeral home, Zurich, with int-
erment in St. Peter's Lutheran
Cemetery, Goshen Line. Rev.
A.C. Blackwell officiated.
Obituary
DENNIS JASON STECKLE
Dennis Jason Steckle, the
17 -day old son of Mr. and Mrs.
David Steckle, R,R.2, Zurich,
passed away at War Memorial
Hospital, London, on Monday,
April 16. He was born at South
Huron Hospital, on March 30.
Surviving besides his parents
are one brother, Kevin, and
one sister, Karien, along with
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Josiah Steckle, of Elmira and
Mr. and Mrs. Serenus Schwart-
zentruber, of Shakespeare.
Funeral service was held on
Wednesday, April 18, from the
Westlake funeral home, Zurich,
with interment in the Zurich
Mennonite Cemetery. Rev.
C. Kuepfer officiated.
