REBEKAH LODGE
A very good crowd was in
attendance at the Rebakah LodgY
Dessert Euchre held in the Lodge
rooms last Wednesday afternoon,
With thirteen tables in play the
winners were; high winners on
the pink cards, Mrs. Mel
Lamport, Exeter; High winners
on the green cards, Mrs. R. A.
Orr; most lone hands, Mrs.
Annie Morenz, Dashwood; low
games, Mrs. Idle, Exeter. A
draw on a bunny shaped cake
donated by Mrs, Hazel Corbett
was won by Mrs. Pears Taylor,
Chiselhurst; and a quart of
maple syrup donated by Mrs.
Irene Blackwell was won by Mrs
Ray Cottle, of Exeter.
Mr. and Mrs. John Konynendyk,
Woodstock, Ad VanDiiel, Tor-
onto, and Peter VanDiiel, God-
erich, Tony Gelderland, Ridge -
town visited with Mr. and Mrs.
Sim Roobal last week.
An Easter Thank Offering
meeting was held in Belgrave
Presbyterian Church last Wed-
nesday with Mrs. Robert Camp-
bell of Wingham as the guest

Church were Mrs. Elizabeth
Faber, Mrs. Myrtle Dick, Mrs.
Malcolm Dougall and Mrs.
Rachel Schwalm.
AMBER REBEKAHS
The regular meeting of the
Amber Rebekah Lodge was held
Wednesday evening in the Lodge
rooms with N.G. Mrs. Irene
Blackwell presiding and being
assisted by V.G. Mrs. Aldeen
Volland. Mrs. Volland reported
that a number of cards and
treats had been sent of the sick
and shut-in members.
Plans were made in preparat-
ion for the official spring visit
of the D. D.P. Mrs. Margaret
Sharp to the Lodge on April 18.
The members were reminded
of the district meeting which
will be held the afternoon of
April 13, at Seaforth Lodge
rooms. All past Grands of the
Lodge are invited to attend.
Mrs. Olga Chipchase reported
on having attended the speak -
off held in Clinton recently wher
a Hensall boy, Tony Kyle was
the lucky winner of a trip to
the United Nations in June. It
was decided that Mrs. Bertha
MacGregor and Mrs. Olga
Chipchase would attend the
• Grand Lodge sessions in Toronto
in June.
Final plans were made to
attend the 25th birthday party
of Monkton Star Lodge to be
held in Atwood Community
Centre on April 27. Quite a
number of members plan to
attend this event.
A request was received in
regards to helping finance a bus
for the Huronview residents,
This was set aside for another
meeting for further discussion.
It was reported that the Dessert
Euchre held last Wednesday
afternoon was a real success.

Legion ladies
The April meeting of the
Hensall Legion Ladies Auxiliary
was held in the Legion Hall Tues
day evening, with president Mrs.
Mildred Chalmers presiding.
Members accepted an invitat-
ion to attend a birthday party at
Seaforth Legion Auxiliary on
April 17. It was announced that
the Easter Basket draw would
be held on April 21, with the
proceeds to go towards the
Crippled Children's Treatment
Centre in London.
Vera Smale won the guessing
prize and also the mystery prize.

plan events
Unit II of Hensall United
Church Women met Monday
evening at the church for their
Easter Thank -Offering meeting.
Mrs. Joyce Pepper acted as
chairlady and welcomed every-
one and opened with a poem
entitled "No time for God."
Mrs. Lorna Chapman gave an
inspiring devotional on Easter,
with Mrs, Sadie Hoy reading
scripture from Mark,
The roll call answered with
12 members was a verse with
the word "Joyful" in it. Hymns
were sung with Mrs. Pearl Pass-
more accompanying at the
piano. A card of thanks was
read from Mrs. Jelene Keys.
Mrs. Kay Mock conducted
the business portion of the meet-
ing which included the general
meeting on May 7. Unit II are
responsible to place flowers
in the church for May and also
are to go to the Queensway
Nursing Home in May. It was
announced that there will be
an Open House at the Queens-
way Nursing Home on May 30
from 2 to 4, ladies are asked
to bring baking, and also it was
suggested that members visit
the nursing home in the summer
months, especially July 9 and
August 6.
The study on India was very
capably taken by Mrs. Jean
Wareing who read an article
from the Life magazine written
by Peter White on "Life in Cal-
cutta" and also an article from
the March Readers Digest on
Mother Tereasa and her work in
India and other countries.
The meeting closed with the
Mizpah benediction and hostess-
ess Kay Mock and Hilda Payne
served a delicious lunch.

Farmers in northern Huron
and southern Bruce counties who
have been protesting prices be-
ing offered for land on the route
of a proposed Ontario Hydro
power transmission line are put-
ting money up in support of thea
claims,
Dave McCallum, R,R.1,
Wingham told directors of the
Huron County Federation of
Agriculture Thursday night in
Clinton that some 130 properties
along the route of line from
Douglas Point to Seaforth have
not yet been sold. It had been
decided, he said, to go ahead
and try to get money to com-
mission a consulting firm to
determine the value of the land
in question. Each farmer has
been asked to give $75 to $100
and, Mr. McCallum says, "It's
unbelieveable the support we're
getting from the farmers
