The Ladies Aid of Carmel
Presbyterian Church met for a
short meeting Thursday after-
noon at the church, where they
packed 20 boxes to distribute
among the sick, shut-in and
elderly of the church.
Last Wednesday evening, 41
Senior Citizens of Hensall went
on a Christmas light viewing
tour to Goderich. After seeing
many beautiful lighting arrange-
ments the bus tour went to the
Psychiatric Hospital, near God-
erich, for a Christmas entertain-
merit program sponsored by the
Hensall Kinsmen and Kinettes.
Friday afternoon at the Leg-
ion Hall the Legion Auxiliary
money doll draw was made.
Mrs. Marg Vanstone was the
lucky winner of the doll valued
at $25. Cindy Bisback drew
the winning ticket.

eived word this week that she
had passed with honors her Grade
5 music exam from the Western
Ontario Conservatory of Music
held in Goderich recently.
Brenda is a pupil of Mrs. Frank
Forrest.

Unit IV of Hensall United
Church Women held their
Christmas meeting Thursday
afternoon at the churci,. Mrs.
James McAllister opened the
meeting with Luke 2:18 foil-

owed by prayer. Mrs. Gordon
Love gave the devotional from
Mathew 1:18, and took as her
theme "The Spirit of Christmas;
Mrs, McAllister spoke on

Lewis Redner. Mrs. E. Luther
and Mrs. C. Britton rendered an
inspiring duet "Star of the East.'
accompanied by Mrs. T. Sher-
rift on the piano.
The 'hostesses, Mrs. Pym
and Mrs. Ferguson took up the
offering, Mrs. McAllister told
a folk tale by Finnish gypsies--
"The Good Night." Those
contributing readings were Mrs.
Pym, Mrs. Riley, Mrs. Luther,
Mrs. Purdy, Mrs. Erratt, Mrs.
Peck, Mrs, Britton.
Mrs. Sherritt conducted a
contest and gave the treasurer's
report. Lunch was served by the
committee in charge.
A euchre party, sponsored by
the C, P: &, T Committee was
held in the Lodge rooms last
Friday evening. Due to the
weather conditions only five
tables were in play. Winners
were as follows; ladies high, Mrs
Howard Lenrnron; ladies low,
Mrs. Alex McBeath; men's high,
Lorne Hay; mens low, Clar-
ence Volland; lone hands,
Mrs. Nellie Riley. A draw for
a box of chocolates was won
by Mrs. R.A. Orr and a bag of
oranges was won by Mrs. Ross
Richardson.. The proceeds from
this euchre party went to buy
Poinsettias for the shut-ins,
CHURCH NOTES
At the Advent service in
Hensall United Church Sunday
morning, Melissa Veal lit the
third advent candle. Rev. Don
Beck preached on the topic
"God in -the -midst." The choir
sang the anthem, "Go tell it
on the mountain." Sunday
evening the White Gift Service
was held. The Junior choir
contributed two numbers "In a
Lowly Manger" and "Let's
remember Christmas, " and the
senior choir sang the anthem
"Come and Worship." A choral
reading taken from Psalms 98
was given by the Intermediate
Class from Sunday School.
The McGregor fancily --Jim and
Betty, Mary Jane, Stephen,
Murray, Mark and Michael
dramitized a Christmas Story
using scripture lessons from
Lul<e, Matthew and Corinthians.
Karen McAllister on the piano
and Mrs. Turkheim on the
organ contributed two very
beautiful duets. Christmas carol:
were enjoyed throughout the
service. Next Sunday morning
will be the Christmas Service
with the Sacrament of Infant
Baptism and Sundayeveningcar

will be the celebration of the
Lord's Supper.

The Christmas meeting of

the Chiselhurst United Church
Women was held in the sanct-
uary of the Church. President
Mrs. Marg Cole presided and
opened with a poem followed
by the Lord's Prayer. Thirteen
members and six guests answer -
ed the roll call.
Mrs. Dorothy Parker gave the
worship message entitled "The
Bethlehem Star." Mrs. Vera
Ross played a medley of Christ -
mas songs on the piano for the
program. Some ladies volunteer -
ed (ro help wrap gifts for the •
Cli 1dren's Aid in Exeter.
Mrs. Dorothy Parker and Mrs.
Dprothy Brintnell were appointed
a$ the visiting committee for
January. Rev. Don Beck gave a
very inspiring Christmas mess -
age.
The January meeting will take
the form of quilting and a pot
luck dinner. Rev. Beck closed
the meeting with prayer. The
hostesses were Mrs. Ruth Brock
and Mrs. Erla Coleman.
