LADIES AID
Zion Lutheran Ladies Aid
held their Christmas and Annual
meeting Wednesday, December
13, with group three and Miss
Helen Nadiger, acting convener,
in charge of Devotions and
Christmas lunch.
Reports were heard from all
secretaries showing a very busy
year. The Altar Guild reported
12 visits. The new Guild is Mrs.
Ray Rader and Mrs. Charles
Martene assisted by Mrs. Jim
Hayter. Flowers are to be put on
the altar Sunday. Shut-in boxes
will be packed Sunday after-
noon, December 17, following
the installation of Pastor Morg-
ret, and the pot luck supper.
A number of cards of thanks
were read and donations accept-
ed. A Christmas gift of money
was made to a member of the
congregation in Parkwood Hosp-
ital. The ladies decided to
donate $500 towards the exp-
enses at the parsonage.
Mrs. Ernest Koehler presided
for the election of a new treas-
urer Mrs. Ray Rader. Other
officers are returned to office,
namely, president, Mrs. James
Hayter; vice-president, Mrs.
E. Koehler; secretary, Mrs.
Charles Martene; pianist, Miss
Helen Nadiger; librarians, Mrs.
Ray Van Dorsselaer and Mrs.
Frieda Keller; card and flower
and treat fund secretary, Mrs.
Albert Miller; auditors, Mrs.
Ken Keller and Mrs. Earl Keller.
A short program followed
closing devotions. Sherry Stade,
Barbara Rader, and Elizabeth
Datars played piano selections.
Carol Rader played accordian
selections. Janice and Jayne
Hayter sang duets accompanied
by Miss Nadiger and Mrs. Bud
Desjardine sang two numbers.
Mrs. Leonard Schenk read a
Christmas reading.
Forty ladies including a numb-
er of guests enjoyed Christmas
lunch.
Irvin Eckstein reports that
thanks to all canvassers and the
generous donations of Dashwood
and surrounding area he was
able to send $400 to the Bible
Society.
Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Gould,
Windsor, spent the weekend
with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Chandler
and boys.
UCW MEETING
An evening of fellowship was
enjoyed by 30 members of the
United Church Women of Cal-
vary United Church and 25
guests at the Christmas supper
served by Mrs. Stuart Wolfe's
group. Two lucky prizes were
won by Mrs. Katie Weigand
and Mrs. Helen Grieves:-
Mrs.
rieves:Mrs. Lloyd Beaver led in a
worship service as chairlady.
The ladies sang four familiar
Christmas songs joined by their
husbands. Mrs. Lloyd Beaver
read the Christmas story and
Rev. Bruce Guy led in a Christ-
mas prayer. Everyone joined
in singing Christmas Carols.

Twenty games of Bingo played
and 20 small prizes were won.
In spite of all the storm and
snow that jolly old fellow Santa
Claus made his annual call at
Dashwood Saturday with gifts
of candy and chocolate milk
for all boys and girls. Movies
were also shown.
NEW MINISTER
Rev. Frank Morgret, who
will be installed as pastor of
Zion Lutheran Church, Dash-
wood, and Peace Lutheran
Church, Exeter, was born and
raised in the United States.
In 1956 he received an app-
ointment to the United States
Coast Guard Academy from
which he graduated in 1960,
receiving a Bachelor of Science
degree and a commission in
the Coast Guard. In the,same
year he married the former
Miss Nancy Davis, a graduate
of MacMurray College, Jack-
sonville, Illinois.
In 1966, Rev. Morgret resign-
ed his commission to enter
Concordia Seminary, Spring-
field, Illinois. During 1968-69,
he served as vicar at Holy Cross
Lutheran Church, Kitchener.
He graduated from the
seminary in 1970, receiving the
Bachelor of Divinity degree.
Rev. Morgret accepted a call
to serve as pastor of Christ
Lutheran Church, Langenburg,
Saskatchewan. He was ordained
and installed there in June,
1970. He served there until
receiving a call to Dashwood
and Exeter.
Recently Rev. Morgret compl-
eted a course in Supervised Past-
oral Education conducted at the
Brandon Mental Health Centre,
Brandon, Manitoba, by the
Rev. Orton Anderson, chaplain
supervisor.
Four daughters, Ruth, Mary,
Christina and Martha round out
the Morgret family.
Post Office planners studied
every postal code in the world
before deciding on Canada's
Code.
