PAGE 20 ZURICH CITIZENS NEWS ;'THURSDAY, DECEMBER 21, 1972 • Lutheran womenii elect officers The Lutheran Church Women held their Christmas meeting on Tuesday evening. Mrs. Victor Dinnin, Mrs. Ferd Haberer, Mrs. Arnold Merrier and Mrs. Keith Thiel were in charge of the meet' ing. A Christmas theme and decorations along with Martha and Douglas Klopp, Jane Willert® Scott and Sandra Armstrong sing - ing a couple of Christmas songs helped put member in the Christ- mas spirit. Guest speaker, Bruce Health of the Children's Aid Society, gave a very informative talk and discussion regarding Children Aid Societies in Huron County. The president Mrs. C. Deichert conducted thebusiness meeting. Good Cheer boxes were packed and delivered to the sick and shut-ins. A Christmas gift was presented to Rev. and Mrs. Black well on behalf of , the Lutheran Church Women. T?ie annual meeting was held following the regular monthly meeting. The nominating committee, Mrs. W. Lawrence and Miss Inez Yungblut advised members that the executive remained unchang• ed for 1973. President: Mrs. C. Reichert; Vice President: Mrs. H. Hohner; Secretary: Mrs. P. Willert; Treasurer: Mrs. Gordon Hess. The president submitted her annual report. 175 calls were made to the sick and shut- ins. She thanked members for their co-operation during the past year. Meeting closed with prayer. 0 Easy Way to Say Christmas Thanks Here's an idea for a won- derful way for youngsters to say thank -you for Christ- mas presents — and much easier than persuading them to write thank -you notes! Get someone to take a picture of the youngster showing him or her holding or using the gift. The meeting opened by the president, Mrs. Vina Parker with a reading "Christmas Around the World, " stressing particularly the celebrations in Austria. The Lord's Prayer was repeated in unison and the Rector read the lesson from the Gospel of St. Luke. The secretary, Mrs. Greta Scotchmer gave her report, which was adopted. Cards of thanks for flowers and cards were received and filed. The treasur- er Mrs. Lorna Merrier gave her report, moved its' adoption seconded by Mrs. Maude West- on and moved all outstanding bills be paid. Mrs. ,"lo Youmatoff and Mrs. Lorna Merrier paid birthday money. The Sunday School party was finalized to be held Sunday afternoon in the Parish Hall; the Guild to provide lunch. Mrs. Ruby Fitzsimons, Mrs. Bessie Hulls and Mrs. Lorna Meaner will present a slate of officers at the January meeting to be held January 9 at the home of Mrs. Greta Scotchmer. The Rector requested our assistance in purchasing special paper for our Church Bulletins. This was approved. A delicious lunch was terved News of Kippen CHRISTMAS THEME "My Favourite Christmas Recipe" roll call was answered by members of Kippen East W. I, when they met at the home of Mrs. Vern Alderdice for the Christmas meeting, December 13. Recipes were later exchang- ed and the samples tasted. Linda and Sylvia Bell favour- ed with several Christmas numbers --Linda playing the piano and Sylvia the guitar. They also sang several duets. Mrs, M. Connolly, president, opened the meeting with a Christmas reading. Mrs. Camp- bell Eyre was presented with a Life Membership certificate and pin, by Mrs. H. Caldwell. Mrs. Al Hoggarth, who was co -hostess, gave a reading, "Recipe for a Merry Christmas" Mrs. James Drummond gave a humourus reading, "Twas the Night before Christmas." Reports were given on Citizen. ship and World Affairs by Mrs. E. Whitehouse; family and consumer affairs, Mrs. V. Ald- erdice; education, Mrs. H. Caldwell. A donation of money will be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association and the Children's Aid Society , Some quilts, toys, books or money will be sent to the War Memor- ial Hospital for Sick Children in London following the next A Ch strias Mak A BLESSED CHRISTMAS and a prosperous NEW YEAR to all our relatives and friends in Zurich and area Ken and Shirley Keller AND FAMILY meeting. Mrs. Alex McGregor gave an interesting demonstration on the use of marbles and also the making of a fur plant. Santa arrived to distribute the Secret Pal gifts. Mrs. J. Drummond gave a contest and Mrs. James Chalmers gave courtesy rem- arks. Mrs. D. Triebner and her committee served lunch. The United Church Women of St. Andrew's Church met at the home of Mrs. Lloyd Cooper on December 14, for the Christ- mas meeting. Gordon Wren has returned home from Exeter Hospital. Emerson Kyle met with a painful accident to his hand which required 12 stitches. The family of the late R.J. Cooper held their Christmas party December 17, at Huron Centennial School. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Burke, Apsley, enroute to Florida to spend the winter, visited Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Meltis, John Anderson underwent surgery in London, recently. by the hostess whose husband Fred is the Peoples Warden. She was assisted by Mrs. Harry Baker, wife of the Ministers Warden. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Faber and Mr. and Mrs. Rochus Faber, Kippen, were Sunday guest of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Penhale, Rick and Wendy. Dinner guests Saturday even- ing with Mrs. Gilbert Knight were Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Sturg- eon, Rhea and Andrew and Mrs. Kay Gemeininhardt and Karen. A family dinner held at the home of Brown Lindsay, Sun- day December 17, was attended by Mr. and Mrs. Bill Orr; Mr. and Mrs. John Lindsay; Mrs. Jean Bell; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Blair and George Lindsay, Paris. Rob Erickson was a weekend guest of Mr. and Mrs, Ralph Bennewies and family, Seaforth. Sincere condolances to Mr. and Mrs. Pat Graham and family in the loss of a father and grand- father, Rev, John Graham, Wallacetown.
