Members of their family and friends called on the couple throughout the day, and on Sun- day a family dinner in their honour was held at the Domin- Steer This Way BY LARRY SNIDER A Pittsburg replaced its entire fleet of 105 radio patrol police cars with air-conditioned vehicles. Mrs. Haberer is the former Alice Gaiser, of the Crediton area. As well as receiving many cards on the occasion of their anniversary, Mr. and Mrs. Haberer received congratulatory messages from Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, Governor Gen- eral Roland Michener, and Rob- ert Nixon, leader of the Oppos- ition in the Ontario Government. 0 Legion ladies The December Christmas meeting of the Hensall Legion Ladies Auxiliary was held in the Legion Hall, December 5, with president Mrs. Mildred Chalmers presiding. Final plans were made for the New Years Eve dance, and also for the banquet to be held soon. It was reported that plants had been sent to Legion shut-in members for Christmas. Lodge opened in regular form with all officers present except one. Cards were reported to have been sent to the sick -in and shut-ins, and bereaved members of friends of the Lodge members, The treasurer's report was given and indicated that there was good balance in the account, Mrs, Leona Parke reported that a profit of $127, 62 was made from the sale of tickets on an afghan and blanket after exp- enses were paid. A motion was made to enter this amount to the social fund. It was suggest- ed by Mrs, Nellie Riley to hold a euchre party for the Lodge in January, and seconded by Mrs. Rose Broderick. A notice was received to ask for representation to attend a meeting in Clinton on Decemb- er 14 to arrange the election of a student to attend the United Nations next summer, Mrs. Evelyn McBeath was appointed to attend this meeting. A numb- er of donations were received for benevolent work of the Lodge A donation was made to the Children's War Memorial Hosp- ital.
