Zurich Flyers lose to College
The Zurich Flyers lost a 6-5 erly the Dashwood Bears. Game

Huron. Intermediate Hockey
competition. The game was
played in the local arena.
After 20 minutes of play the
visitors held a 3-2 lead, and
then neither team managed to
score in the second. In the third
Centralia went ahead 5-2 be-
fore Zurich stormed back with
two big goals to narrow the gap.
With a minute and a half left in
the game and Zurich pressing
hard, the College boys managed
to score again, but with less
than a minute left in regulation
time the Flyers stormed back to
narrow the gap at 6-5. For the
last 30 seconds of the game
Zurich pulled their goalie in
favour of an extra forward, but
failed to come up with the
equalizer.
Bob Merner, Kevin McKinnon,
Shane McKinnon, Ron Desjard-
ine and Ron Rader each scored
once for the locals.
Only five penalties were hand-
ed out in the game, with three
of them going to the visiting
College team.
Next home game for Zurich
is this Sunday afternoon. when
they play host to Shipka, form -

Hensall wins
over Huron Park
The Hensall Cascadians rack-
ed up a 5-4 victory over Huron
Park last Thursday night on
their home ice surface. They
took a commanding 4-0 lead in
the first period, and then saw
the lead dwindle to a 4-2 by
the end of the second. In the
third Huron Park fired two more
goals, but Hensall also blinked
the red light once to maintain
their 5-4 lead.
Murray Glanville, with two
goals, and Murray Bell and Jim
Cooper with one each, were
the marksmen for the Cascad-
ians in the first period. Their
final goal was scored by Mel-
vin Wurm in the third frame.
A total of nine minor penalt-
ies and two majors were called
in the game, with Hensall draw-
ing four minors and one of the
majors.
Next game for the Hensall
crew will be Friday night, when
they play Shipka (formerly Dash-
wood) in the Zurich Arena.

the minor hockey program in Zurich this winter, several mothers have
come to the rescue and are assisting in the project. Shown here is one

members of the Zurich Squirt hockey team. Another mother who has
been helping out with the tasks involved in operating minor hockey
teams, is Mrs. Pat Love.
