Decorations revolved around a Christmas theme. A great variety of foods were enjoyed by all, especially a cake made by Debbie Riddell and Susan Van Wyck which was decorated to resemble Frosty the Snowman. The meeting closed with an appreciation speech to the lead- ers, Mrs, Gordon Bender and Mrs. Lloyd Beaver, by Debbie Riddell, Jim and Lawrence Becker and Keith Rader were among a party of hunters in the Parry Sound District last week who came home with two deer. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mart - CAS director on select committee Bruce Heath, Director of Huron County Children's Aid Society, has been appointed to a Select Committee of the Ont- ario Association of Children's Aid Societies to prepare a maj- or presentation to the Task Force of the provincial Ministry of Community and Social Services. The Ontario Task Force chair- ed by H.R. Hanson is to enquire into all matters pertaining to the management of the Ministry of Community and Social and related matters with -in Ont- ario, including: objectives and goals; programs and their mode of delivery; utilization of hum- an resources; organizational design and administrative proc- edures; relationships with other ministries, governments, org- anizations and communities. The Task Force has been empowered to make such recom• mendations that will enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Ministry in attaining object- ives and assist in the develop- ment of Community and Social Services for the people of Ont- ario. The Association Select Com- mittee, composed of the CAS Directors, of Toronto, Hamilt- on, Halton, Simcoe and Huron Counties, Mr. I -I • H , Dymond, Executive Director of the Ont- ario Association, and chaired by Mrs, L.M, Ball, a past pres- ident of the Ontario Association, will examine the role of the Children's Aid Society and its relationship with the Ministry in provision of services to fam- ilies and children. The Committee will also examine matters related to possible absorbing of CAS serv- ices into provincial or municip- al government structure, the composition of CAS Boards of Directors, capital and operation funding, desirable changes in legislation, co-ordination of helping services, and the import, ant role of volunteers in present and future operations, Locally, Mr. Heath is the 1972-73 Chairman of the Huron County Social Services Co-ord- inating Committee, a Director of the Goderich Rotary Club, the Advisory Board of St. Peter's Church, Goderich, and the Advisory Board of the Social Services division of Conestoga College.
