50 Years Ago
Mrs. J. Hey and Miss Pearl
Wurtz are attending the Wom-
en's Institute convention in
London this week. The former
has the distinction of being
the president of all the Institute
groups in Huron County.
The new house being built
in the west end of the village
of Zurich by Peter Papineau,
and under contract by Peter
Corriveau, is rapidly nearing
completion and will soon be
ready for occupancy.
Charles B. Chapman, of
London, has started a law suit
against the Township of Hay
to recover damages resulting
from an automobile accident.
Mr. Chapman contends his car
was damaged when he drive
into a hole in the road, and
that the accident resulted in a
crash with another machine.
The Dashwood firm of Reid,
Edighoffer and Son, have dis-
solved partnership. Mr. Edward
Beaver, of Zurich, is entering
the business as a partner of Mr.
Reid.
40 Years Ago
Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Haberer,
bridal couple, arrived in Zurich
on Tuesday evening, and are
now busy getting settled in their
fine new home.
Mr. Charles Rathwell, of the
Goshen Line, Stanley, is holding
an auction sale of his farm
stock, and implements, on
Tuesday, November 15. Mr.
Rathwell has disposed of his
farm.
YEARS GONE

Those of us who were "tuned
in" on the Kitchener- Waterloo
station on Sunday around five
o'clock certainly received a
real treat of singing and music,
when the Gabel Quartette of
Zurich rendered a half hour of
sacred music.
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Lafram-
boise, and family who have
farmed on the Blue Water High-
way, a few miles south of St.
Joseph, for a goodly number
of years, left last week with
their family for Windsor.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Parsons
are moving this week to their
new home in Hensall.
25 Years Ago
Miss Audrey Heimrich, teach.
er at the Blake Public School,
had her left arm cut at the
wrist on Friday afternoon, while
she was attempting to open one
of the windows at the school.
Medical attention was given
and the pupils were all happy
to see their teacher back on
the job on Monday morning.
Mrs. Adeline Sararas has
sold her two building lots east
of her home in Zurich to Mr.
Ivan Kalbfleisch, who intends
building a couple of houses on
the property to help the housing
shortage.
Miss Belva Truemner and
Miss Mary Hauser of the 14th
concession and Miss Lois Gaiser
of London, have returned after
visiting relatives and friends
at Detroit, also attending the
hockey game between Detroit
and Toronto.

The firm of Haberer and
Westlake Concrete Products
in Zurich is ever growing and
expanding. They are builders
of concrete burial vaults and
have recently added quite an
addition to their building
which now measures 42 x 48
feet.
The Village and community
was shocked on Sunday noon
to learn of the sudden passing
of Lovina Elizabeth Yungblut,
wife of the late John Henry
Yungblut who passed away at
the home of her daughter, Miss
Inez Yungblut,
Mrs. William A. Siebert
has been doing the relief
teaching of Room 3, Zurich
Public School, during the ill-
ness of the regular teacher,
Miss Olive O'Brien who has
been a patient at South Huron
Hospital.
Mr. Kenneth Breakey has
recently moved his TV and
Radio business and equipment
into the place he purchased
from Edward Datars between
the Hess Jewellery store and
the Zurich Locker Service.
10 Years Ago
If the residents of the village
of Hensall will clean up their
system of disposing laundry and
kitchen waste water they may
avoid the necessity of installing
a sewage system in the mun-
icipality for a few years.
The Zurich council approved
an application to the Ontario
Municipal Board, for the issu-
ing of debentures in the amount
of $12, 000 for the construction
of a new well.
. A resident of Zurich for
many years, Mrs. Ella Mary
Church passed away at her home
on Wednesday, October 31.
Mrs. Alice Thiel and family
have moved into their new home
which they recently built just
east of the village. Mr. and
Mrs. Roy Gingerich are moving
into the farmer Thiel home in
the village.
