The two teams met last year Hensall crew edge Huron Park The Hensall Cascadians came up with a thrilling 7-6 victory over Huron Park on Monday night, in the latter's arena. Bill Chipchase, with three goals and Bob Carlile with two paced the Hensall attack, while Mur- ray Glanville and Charles Schwalm each scored one. Hensall took a commanding 6-0 lead in the first period, but wiltered a bit in the second and allowed Huron Park to bang in four markers. In the final period the Huron Park scored two more, while the Cascadians managed to register only one. In the penalty department Hensall drew six minor and one major, while the home team were assessed two minors and one major, as well. in the final round for the group championship, which was won by Zurich in the seventh game. Hockey fans can be sure of plenty of action when these two teams renew their rivalry to- night. Under the watchful eye of manager -coach Larry Ducharme, the Cascadians have been work- ing our regularly for this big home opener. In goal Ducharme has Rob Grant, while he has six candidates for defence pos- itions. They are Murray Bell, Bill Bell, Gary Kyle, Rod Chap- man, Al Corbett and Wayne Corbett. Up front the "Punch Imlach" of Hensall has three units work- ing together. On one line he has Ken Smale, Bill Chipchase and Charles Schwalm, while • another sees Ian McCallum, Murray Glanville and Joe Van - stone working together. The other unit is made up of Bob Carlile, Melvin Wurm and Len Smale. Hockey fans in the area can be sure of plenty of action to- night in the Hensall Arena when the local Cascadians entertain the Zurich Flyers. The Exeter squad were last year's all -Ontario Junior D champions, while the Zurich Flyers won the South Huron Hockey League title. Two early goals in the first period gave the Hawks a 2-0 lead, but before the session had ended Zurich roared back with two big markers to even the score at 2-2. Jim Guenther and Peter Kleinstiver gave Exeter their early lead, while Fred Lamb and Paul Corriveau bang- ed in the equalizers for the Flyers. The only scoring in the middle stanza was by Exeter, when Randy Gilfilian and Ger- ald Weido both found the range, within one minute of each other. Harry Smits and Jim Guenther with his second goal of the game, shot the visitors into a 6-2 lead early in the third per- iod, before the Flyers finally found the range and replied with three big goals. At the 10.04 mark Dick Bedard scored, and then at 12.20 Paul Corriv- eau registered his second goal of the game. The final Zurich counter was registered by Kev- in McKinnon with four minutes left to play. Even though the Flyers staged a desperate att- empt to tie the score in the dying minutes of the game, their efforts were in vain. A total of 17 penalties were handed out in the game, with nine of them going to Zurich and eight to Exeter. The Exeter team this year has at least four players who came up through the minor rank: in Zurich. Gerald Weido and John Mommersteeg, both from last year's Midget team, are lining up with the Hawks and giving a good account of them- selves. Also in the lineup is Harry Smits, of the Grand Bend area, who played for Zurich Midgets two years ago, and ,Tim Guenther, of Dashwood, who played midget hockey for Zur- ich three years ago. Next home game for the Flyers in South Huron Hockey League action is this Sunday afternoon, when Hensall Cas- cadians supply the opposition for a 2 p.m. game.
