OBITUARIES
MRS. JACOB BATTLER
A highly respected resident
of the Babylon Line, Hay Town-
ship, Mrs. Jacob Battler passed
away at South Huron Hospital,
on Sunday, November 12, in
her 77th year. The former Anna
Marie Foster, she was born in
Hay Township on January 14,
1896, a daughter of the late Mr.
and Mrs, John Foster. Her husb-
and pre -deceased her several
years ago,
Surviving is one son, W.J.
Orlando, R. R. 3, Zurich; one
daughter, Mrs, Francis (Winni-
fred) Kipper, Zurich; one broth-
er, Albert Foster, of Kinder -

The body rested at the West-
lake funeral home, Zurich,
until Wednesday morning, when
funeral mass was held at St.
Boniface Roman Catholic Church
Zurich, at 10:30 a.m. Inter-
ment was made in the adjoining
cemetery. Father A. Durand
officiated.

MRS, FRED DUCHARME
A life-long resident of the
Bluewater Highway, Mrs. Fred
Ducharme passed away at the
home of her daughter, Mrs.
Theresa Hartman, on Wednes-
day, November 8, in her 89th
year. The former Adelina
Masse, she was born in Hay
Township on January 28, 1884,
a daughter of the late Mr. and
Mrs. August Masse.
Her husband, who pre -deceas-
ed her a couple of years ago,
was a life-long correspondent
for the Zurich newspaper. They
were married on November 25,
1903.
Mrs. Ducharme was a Perp-
etual Member in the Miracul-
ous Medal; a member of the
Precious Blood Association;
a Perpetual Member of the
Capuchin Society; the St.
Anthony Society, the Oratoire
of St. Joseph, and the Catholic
Women's League. She was a
devoted member of St. Peter's
Roman Catholic Church, St.
Joseph.
Surviving are six daughters;
Mrs. Laurence (Albina) Duch-
arme, Detroit; Mrs. Theresa
Hartman, Zurich; Mrs. Tyrus
(Alphonsine) Stansberry, Grosse
Pointe Woods, Michigan;
Sister Priscille (Therese, The
Pines, Chatham; Sister Rosalie,
Tecumseh; and Mrs. Joseph
(Veronique) Masse, Windsor;
five sons, Avila, R.R.2, Zurich;
Cyrille, Windsor; Hubert, Wind-
sor; Leo Pierre, R.R.2, Grand
Bend; and Blaise, of Windsor.
There are also two sisters, Mrs.
Sara Jeffrey, Zurich; Mrs.
Elise Beneteau, River Canard;
and one brother, Paul Masse,
of Windsor; as well as 54 grand-
children; 103 great grandchild-
ren, and two great, great
grandchildren.
The body rested at the West-
lake funeral home, Zurich,
where prayers were said on
Thursday and Friday evenings.
Funeral mass was at St. Peter's
Church, St. Joseph, on Satur-
day morning, at 10 a.m. with
interment in the adjoining cem-
etery. A grandson, Father Laur-
ence Ducharme, officiated,
