ST. BONIFACE GIRLS CHEER FOR LOCAL TEAM
Bayfield Conservatives organize.
Mr. Everett Mclllwain, of
Goderich Township, chaired
the meeting for the Progressive
Conservative Organizational
gathering in the Bayfield Mun-
icipal Building on Wednesday
evening, October 4, in which
Goderich and Stanley Townships
and Bayfield Village met to
organize for the forthcoming
election.
Reeve of the village Ed Odd-
leifson, on behalf of the village
nad council welcomed every-
one and said he hoped it would
prove to be as successful as
last years.
Mr. Clayton Laithwaite, of
Goderich, newly appointed
president of the Board of Direct-
ors for the P.C. Party in i-Iuron
introduced Mr. James Donelly
Q.C., Goderich, who said "the
message in life is the same as
in the Elections." "There is
no substitute for work, hard
work is the price of success. If
we want to succeed we must
all pull together."
Mr. Don Southcott, Toronto,
representing the Hon. Charles
MacNaughton, MPP Huron,
brought greeting from Mr, Mac -

Naughton and said he (Mr.
MacNaughton) extends his very
large gratitude in the Provincial
Campaign and wanted to exp-
ress his very strong desire that
Robert McKinley, MP, Huron,
go back with a stronger major-
ity than ever. He said Mr.
McKinley was one of the best
in Ottawa for his constituency.
Mr. Southcott said, co-operat-
ion, co-ordination and working
together would pay off, and to
work for McKinley and return
him, at least in this commun-
ity to show we are looking for
better leadership in Ottawa.
Mr. Lorne Kleinstiver, Dash-
wood, chairman of the Finance
Committee announced the com-
mittee as follows; Mr. James
Donnelly, Goderich; Mr. Harley
Crawford, Wingham; Mr.
Elmer Bell, Exeter, Mr . Les
Habkirk, Seaforth; Mr. Jerry
Holmes, Clinton; Mr. Harvey
Coleman, Stanley Township
and Mr. Ken Parke, Varna.
Mr. Kelinstiver said if we
want good government we must
help pay the freight. He also
said funds come from many
different sources; Some from
the National Party in Ottawa;
from donations received from
private citizens; soliciting
from the business community;
and numerous fund raising events
that are planned in differenit
communities within each riding.
Twenty-six hundred dollars was
raised recently at a dinner at
the Pine Ridge Chalet, Mr.
Kleinstiver reported.
The Poll Chairman of Stan-
ley and Goderich Townships
and Bayfield Village were also
announced namely; Mr. Jack
Sturgeon, Bayfield Village;
for Stanley, Poll (1) Jack Taylor
Brucefield; (2) Ernest Talbot,
R.R.2, Kippen; (3) Tom Consitt
Varna; (4) Bob Talbot, R.R.3,
Bayfield; (5) Charles Rau, R.R.
2, Zurich.
Goderich Township (1) Stan
Freeman, Goderich; (2) Gerry
Ginn, R.R.2, Clinton; (3)
John Wayne, R.R.1, Bayfield;
(4) Garry Merner, R.R.3, Clint-
on; (5) Jim Lobb, R.R.2, Clin-
ton and poll number (6) to
be announced.
Robert E. McKinley was
introduced and told the more
than 70 persons gathered in a
relaxed and congenial atmos-
phere that they must get out
and visit and talk to people
and explain the party policies.
"Show confidence in your
country and yourself. There is
something wrong with our
system with so many unempl-
oyed. Many people have said
Trudeau must go, and I'm
sympathetic to that. Respon-
sibility and confidence in a
Government is what is needed,
with more trust to run our
Country" he stated.
A question and answer period
followed with a number of
young people in the audience
who appeared deeply concerned.
Coffee and do -nuts were
served to conclude a lively
evening.

been harvested for this year.
However, now is the time when
the plants are initiating their
fruit buds for next year and they
do require some attention, says
John Hughes, horticultural
specialist, Ontario Ministry
of Agriculture and Food.

ion has been formed to handle
minor and intermediate hockey
games in the area.

the group as president. Hugh
Montgomery, of Exeter is the
referee -in -chief and Rick

secretary.

officials are asked to get in
