Tinted blue gladioli, white daisies and lighted tapers in candelabra provided the back- ground for the double -ring ceremony conducted by Rev. P. Packman and Rev. M. Mor- rison. Mrs. Berne McKinley played traditional wedding music and Budd Boyes was the soloist. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Stephenson, Varna and Mr. and Mrs. D'Arcy Rathwell, Brucefield are the parents of the groom. Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose a form- al length gown of lagoda with a stand-up collar, empire waist- line and long sleeves. Guipure lace trimmed the collar, cuffs, yoke and extended down the front of the gathered skirt and around the built-in cathedral train. A cap of lace and white ribbon held the three-tier, el- bow length, silk illusion veil. She carried a garland bouquet of pink sweetheart roses, -with white miniature carnations and baby's breath. The maid of honor was Barb- ara McClure, London and brides• maids were Mrs. Mary Lou Henry, Blyth, and June Falconer Goderich, They chose match- ing gowns of chiffon over taffeta with ivory bodices trimmed with ivory lace and blue chiffon ribbon caught by appliques of tiny blue flowers and the blue chiffon skirt was banded by a deep ruffle. They wore rib- bons and flowers in their hair and carried small nosegays of blue sprayed miniature carnat- ions with white daisies. Paul Cundy, Toronto, was best man. Ushers were Blaine Stephenson, Varna and Bill Rathwell, London. Prior to her wedding, the bride was honored at showers given by the bridesmaids at the home of June Falconer; by the Varna 4-H club at the home of Mrs. Joyce Dawson; by the community at Varna Hall; at the home of Mrs. D'Arcy Rath - well for the aunts and cousins of the groom; and she was pres- ented with a gift by the staff of "Six Medicine" at St. Joseph's Hospital, London. The newlyweds will reside at R.R,1, Varna. ZURICH CITIZENS NEWS Assist in night school Dr. Frank Mills, the Medical Officer of Health for the County of Huron and Director of the Huron County Health Unit this week informed this newspaper that the Health Unit will act - Goshen UCW plan supper Mrs. Elmer Hayter was host- ess for the September meeting of Goshen United Church Wom- en, en Thursday night, Sept- ember 21. Mrs. Clare McBride opened the meeting with a verse "September." The first two verses of hymn 579 were sung. Scripture from Harvest Time, and a story on Harvest time, was read by Mrs. Clare McBride. A skit, pegs, squares and un - squares and was introduced by Mrs. Arnold Keys with Mrs. Arnold Keys, Mrs. Clare Mc- Bride, Mrs. Bruce Keys, Mrs. Richard Robinson, and Mrs. Jim Keys taking part. A story "From my Window, " was read by Mrs. Jim Keys. "A Mother's Prayer was read by Mrs. Bruce Keys. "Kum By Yah" was sung by Mrs. Jim Keys, Mrs. Arnold Keys, Mrs. Clare McBride and Mrs. Bruce Keys accompanied Mrs. Clarke McBride on the ukele, and Mrs. Bruce Keys at the piano. Mrs. Bob Peck read an article on Christian Stewardship. Bus- iness was conducted by Mrs. Arnold Keys. Minutes were read and approved. Thank you's were read from Mrs. Doug Rob- inson, Julie Armstrong, Arnold Keys, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Keys and Paul Robinson. The regional meeting is to be held in Brucefield October 12. Mrs. Allen Hayter was appointed a delegate. A motion was made by Mrs. Elgin McKinley and seconded by Mrs. Melvin Elliott to get the study book on India. A mot- ion by Mrs. Bruce Keys and seconded by Mrs. Elgin McKin- ley was made to have the an- nual supper October 25. The meeting closed by singing the last verse of hymn 579, and prayer by Mrs. Arnold Keys. WEEKEND -�EARRN�� AT THE CHEESE HOUSE Shrubs, Fertilizer, Peat Moss, Coca Beans, Garden Bark Fertilizer Spreader ively participate in the night school program of the Huron County Board of Education in two areas. The first, "Preparat- ion for Parenthood" and the second, "Family Living" sem- inars. Dr. Mills stated that the "Preparation for Parenthood" classes scheduled for the night school timetable will replace the previous so-called prenatal classes which were conducted throughout the county. "Prep- aration for Parenthood" classes will be conducted in each of the county's secondary schools where night courses are avail- able and will be taught by the public health nurse for that area with the assistance of various resource personnel. The pres- entation of this series of classes in seminar -type discussion groups, in conjunction with the Board of Education night . school courses, allows for bet- ter timing of the course for the expectant mother and father, in a centralized location and integrated with the other com- munity night education courses. The second series of present- ations, "Family Living" semin- ars, will also be taught by the area public health nurse (in all secondary schools) and will be presented on a separate evening to that of the "Preparation for Parenthood" series to allow attendance at both, if desired. This series will make use of resource personnel from varied fields as well asthe nurse instruct or, and the series will offer instruction to all age groups in such important areas as safety THURSDAY, OCTOBER 5, 1972 in the home, accident prevent- ion, first-aid care for acute emergencies, practical home nursing and generally the essent- ials of healthful, happy living.
