Reiner, a delegate from Switzerland will preach a Ger- man sermon in the Evangelical church on Friday evening. Mr. E. E. Wuerth, the new tailor for Zurich, has this week moved his household effects from Kitchener to Zurich and is taking up housekeeping in the rooms above his place of bus- iness in the Rannie Block, form- erly occupied by the Sovereign bank. Next Wednesday and Thurs- day, September 20 and 21, is the Big Event of the season, namely the Zurich Fall Fair. Already the town is bestirring itself for the occasion. Our merchants have also made special arrangements to handle the big crowd, and we would advise the public to do your shopping while attending Zurich Fall Fair. The threshing machines are continuously humming away at the large 1922 crop. Many farmers have already threshed, while others are patiently await- ing the machines. Hay Township Council, made a grant of $20. towards Zurich School Fair, $10. towards Dash- wood School Fair and $5. to- wards Grand Bend School Fair for 1922. School in Dashwood re -open- ed Tuesday with Mr. Moffatt, of•Brucefield as principal and Misses Letta Guenther and Pearl Tiernan as assistants. 4 Years Ago Mr. Milton Deitz, who has been operating the Rose service station, has severed his connect- ion at thgt place and is now opening up a general garage in Mr. A.G. Ei ighoffer's building, formerly occupied by the Schrag Bros. With the depression about at its lowest level at present, the citizens of Zurich can talk about one thing that is going up in price, and that is hydro rates, as the local secretary, Mr. A.F. Hess has received notice from the Hydro Commis- sion that the rates for Zurich - OF YEARS GONE - BY - will hereafter be raised a half a cent per killowatt hour, that is in the first rate only, as the second rate will be the same as formerly. Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Golding, Exeter and Harry Hoffman, Dashwood, were in Toronto last week where Mr. Hoffman took part in the musical competition at the Exhibition. He carried off the gold medal as a basso soloist at the Stratford Festival. Misses Helen Nadiger and Ruth Kleinstiver, of Dashwood, left on Monday for Stratford, where they will attend Normal School. 25 Years Ago On Sunday a very happy event was celebrated at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sylvanus Witmer of town, when a family gathering took place in honour of Mr. Witmer who was celebr- ating his 74th birthday. Miss Kay Hay, of Exeter, was hostess at a family shower on Wednesday last, held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. T.H. Meyers, in honour of their daughter Miss Alpha, bride - elect. Messrs Corriveau and Son are busily engaged in putting down new sidewalks on the main business section of town, run- ning north from the square. Mrs, Iriah Tetreau, of near Hensall, Mr. and Mrs. Harry McAdams, Mr. and Mrs. William McAdams and two sons, and Miss Ester Neeb, all of Zurich visited with Mr, and Mrs. Dave Tomeson, at Elkton, Michigan. They all took in the Heck Reunion held at Case- ville County Park, Saginaw Bay, recently. Mr. and Mrs. David Ducharme of town, and Mr, and Mrs. Cul- len Russell, of London, have returned from Ridgetown where they called on Father L.W. Power. Doug and Don O'Brien, Tom Rawlings and Bill Yungb- lut all had two hits for Zurich. During the recent storm on the farm of Ted Steinbach of the Goshen Line south, a corn crib was upset and the barin door broken, Also a number of telephone lines were put out of order, Mr. Lorne Amacher, elder son of Rev, and Mrs. A.M. Amacher, of town, has left for Western University to comm- ence his second year's study in Medicine. Mr. Kenneth Brettkey has purchased the business block from Mr. Edward Datars form- erly occupied by Datars and O'Brien as a hardware store and will now be used as a T.V. and radio store. Mr. Breakey has a large repairing business in this delicate line of work. The Huron Provincial Liberals elected Benson W. Tuckey, of Exeter, as president, succeed- ing Ivan Kalbfleisch, of Zurich. 10 Years Ago Two Hereford cattle from the herd of the Hirtzel Brothers of Crediton, will be going to Russia later this year if they pass strict Russian health stand- ards. The number of students at South Huron High School is 760, an increase of four over the opening day registration last year. Sixty more students are being transported to Clinton District High School, bringing the total students in the school area to 820. Mr, and Mrs. Albert Hess and Mr. and Mrs. William Davidson celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary last Thurs- day evening. After a lovely meal at the Dominion Hotel, the group went to the Hess cot- tage. Air Force Day at Centralia on Saturday afternoon drew a record crowd estimated at close to 15, 000 to examine the var- ious kinds of aircraft used by the Royal Canadian Air Force.
