Mr. and Mrs. Fred Peters
were pleasantly surprised Thurs-
day of last week when Mr. and
Mrs. Bert Taylor from Brighton,
Sussex, England, called on
them for an afternoon and even-
ing's visit.
St. Paul's Anglican Church
will be observing their Harvest
Thanksgiving Service on Octob-
er 1, at 7 p. m.
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Erb and
Mr. and Mrs. Mose Beckier,
Exeter, were in Elkton, Mich-
igan, for the weekend, and
attended the funeral of Mervin
Bushlen, husband of Beatrice
Hamather.
BRIDAL SHOWER
Wednesday evening in the
Legion Hall, Hensall, a misc-
ellaneous shower was held in
honor of Paula Day, whose
wedding to Han.Zeehuisen will
take place October 7..

to a beautifully decorated chair
and assisted by sisters Jacqueline
and Catherine Day and Peggy
Wallace to open gifts, to which
Paula warmly thanked everyone.
The shower was arranged •
and convened by Mrs. Rosallie
Langford, Mrs. Barb Ballantyne
and Mrs. Jean Zeehuisen. When
the wrappings were cleared
away, Mrs. Sandra Carlile and
assistants helped to serve a del-
icious lunch which was much
enjoyed by all.

Hensall Kinettes
begin fall term
The 1972-73 Hensall Kinette
year began with the installat-
ion of officers held in Clinton,
September 9, with the Goder-
ich and Clinton clubs.
The new executive are;
president, Ann Maxwell; vice-
president, Sharon Hoffman;
secretary, Donna Bettke; treas-
urer, Greta Baker; registrar,
Donna Bell' bulletin editors,
Karen Schurman, Linda Mc-
Callum.
On September 10, the Kin-
ettes held a family day picnic
for the Kinsmen and their fam-
ilies. Following games, prizes
and supper, a ball game was
enjoyed by all.
The first meeting of the fall
season of the club will be on
September 27, at the home of
Mrs. Belva Fuss.

discuss prayer
Unit IV of Hensall United
Church Women started their
fall term with a pot luck din-
ner with about 48 present. Mrs.
James McAllister presided for
the program, welcomed the
guests and conducted the dev-
otional, the topic of which
was "Prayer."
In this time together, let us
think about prayer," was answ-
ered by Mrs. Britton and Mrs.
Luther assisting Mrs. McAllister.
"Prayer --what is it to you" "
was answered by the reading
from Luke 18 and Luke 22 by
Mrs. E. Chipchase and Mrs.
Harry Caldwell.
The Lord's Prayer was repeat-
ed in unison followed by silent
prayer and prayer by Mrs.
McAllister. A piano duet played
by Mrs. T. Sherritt and Mrs.
G. 1-larpole was much enjoyed.
Mrs, Laird Mickle conducted
a sing -song of old hymns with
Mrs. Sherritt accompanying.
Plans were finalized for the
October 2 General meeting.
Mrs. E. Rowe pronounced the
benediction.

Rev. W, D. Jarvis conducted
service in Carmel Presbyterian
Church recently when Rally Day
Service was observed.
