'l'he eager, confident look gives a good idea of Ronny's per-
sonality, This eight-year-old shoti's a tremendous amount of
enthusiasm and determination to succeed.
Ile has demonstrated this repeatedly in activities which were
unknown to him before he came into the care of the Children's
Aid Society. He is proficient in swimming and baseball and he
made first string on a hockey team two weeks after he learned to
skate; Though Ronny never steps back from a challenge, he is a
sensitive, waren, affectionate boy who will be a rewarding son.
Ronny is a slender, well-built youngster of English and French
ancestry. He has sandy brown hair, green eyes, fair skin and
naturally, freckles. His general health is good but he has some
nasal problems which.ntay require surgery at maturity. Ile has
a speech impediment which is being helped by speech therapy al
school.
If Ronny is attending an open school next term, he \will be
doing Grade two work in mathematics and language develop-
ment and Grade three work otherwise. Though he has difficulty
with reading, he likes books and enjoys reading or being read to.
Drawing is another favorite activity and he likes any kind of
crafts.
Ronny needs warm, affectionate parents. They will not be
able to place too high expectations on him academically, but can
be assured of a loving son who will do his best at whatever he
attempts.
To inquire about adopting Ronny, please write to Today's
Child, Box 848, Station K, Toronto. For general adoption in-
formation consult your local Children's Md Society.

Revenue Minister Allan Gross-
man said this week that approx-
imately 8, 000 part-time work-
ers have been employed by his
ministry to carry out the enum-
eration of Ontario residents,
which began Tuesday. Sept-
ember 5.
The enumerators are required
to collect basic information
concerning each resident, such
as name, year of birth, prop-
erty occupancy status, citizen-
ship and school support.
Mr. Gossman said the enum-
eration, which will take place
during September, is
important for five basic reasons..
"First, this information is
essential to producing Municip-
al voters' lists, A Canadian
citizen or British Subject who is
a resident, at least 18 years old,
can vote in municipal and
school board elections. Prelimin
ary voters' lists must be deliv-
ered to municipal clerks by
October 10 for use in local and
school board elections on Dec-
ember 4.
"Second, the data is neces-

sary for dividing the education
portion of property taxes bet-
ween the separate and public
school boards.
"Third, the enumeration will
provide the Ontario Government
with a population census for use
in distributing per capita grants
to municipal governments.
"Fourth, updated ownership
and occupancy records and mail
ing addresses will assist the
municipalities in their tax
billing procedures.
"Fifth, the statistical data on
characteristics of municipal
populations will assist planning
agencies at all levels of govern-
ment.
Mr. Gossman said that, in
most cases, information will be
collected by the enumerator
interviewing a resident at each
property for a few minutes.
The resident providing inform-
ation will be asked to sign the
enumeration notice as being
correct to the best of his or her
knowledge. The enumerator will
sign the notice as well and will
leave a copy with the resident.
"If errors should be recorded,
they can be corrected later.
What we are trying to do is
ensure that the information
gathered is as accurate as poss-
ible and that every resident who
is eligible to vote in municipal
and school board elections is on
the voters' list, " Mr. Grossman
explained.
Enumerators will visit resid-
ential properties during the day
or in the evening depending on
when a resident is most likely
to be home.
If the enumerator cannot
personally contact a resident,
an enumeration notice and a
postage -paid, addressed envel-
ope will be left at the property.
This notice should be mailed
in as soon as possible to ensure
that eligible voters are included
on the preliminary voters' list.
This list must be in the hands of
the municipal clerk by the
October 10 deadline.
The list will be published for
public scrutiny and will be
revised by the municipal clerk
in early November to correct
errors.
Anyone who is eligible to
vote, but is not on the prelim-
inary voters' list, can contact
the clerk for inclusion.
