ALL ABOUT BAYFIELD INTERESTING HAPPENINGS IN ONTARIO'S PRETTIEST VILLAGE A few Bayfield friends of Mrs. R, H,F, Gairdner went to Huronview last Monday after- noon and held a little impromp• to birthday party to honour her on her 80th birthday. On the Sunday her god -daughter, Joan (Davies) Heard, along with her baby daughter, Ingrid, of Mississagua, visited with Mrs. Gairdner. The service of Holy Baptism was performed by the Rev. George Youmatoff, in Trinity Anglican Church on Sunday, July 23, when Robert J. Klaudi, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Klaudi, of Princeton and grand- son of Harry Baker, of Bayfield, and Benjamin Aylesworth, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fraser Ayls- worth of Sarnia and Bayfield, and grandson of Mr. and Mrs. R. Aylsworth, of Goderich were baptized. Godparents for Benjamin were his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Aylsworth, of London. jvlrs. L. W , Scotchmer held a buffet supper at her home to honour her great-nephew, Robert J. Klaudi, of Princeton, who was baptised on Sunday, Tuly 23. Among the guests from a distance were the baby's grandmother, Mrs. Christian Klaudi and an aunt and uncle all of St. Marys. Miss Joyce Scott of Calgary, Alberta, arrived at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Scott, last Thursday, to spend a vacation with them. Joyce is a secretary forWest- burne Petroleum and Mineral Ltd., of Calgary. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Steckle Sr., spent several days last week with their son-in-law, daughter and grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. J, W , Taylor, David, Paul and Lynda in St. Thomas. Mr. A ,W , Martin, brother- in-law of Ivan Steckle Sr., and his daughter Almeda, of Waterloo, spent last Sunday with Ivan and Mrs. Steckle Sr. Miss Kim Parker, of London was the guest last week at the homes of her grandparents, Mrs. Helen Fraser and Mr, and Mrs, Bill Parker. Mike Scotchmer, George Harding, head of Students Affairs and Miss Dana Coswick, French Professor, all of the University of Guelph, were wee end guests of the former's par- ents, Mr. and Mrs. A,F, Scot- chmer. Mr. and Mrs. Steven Scotch - mer, Jody and Molly, St, Cath- arines were with his parents, Mr. and Mrs, A, F, Scotchmer over the weekend/, Calvin Scotchmer of London is presently holidaying at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A .F, Scotchmer. Miss Gwen Vanderhyde, Chatham is a guest of Miss Mary Pounder this week. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Scot- chmer, Robert and Lori, of Chatham who have spent the past two weeks with his mother, Mrs. L. W, Scotchmer, have left for a three week vacation to the East Coast, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Atwood, Tim and a friend Jeff, of Galcon, Ohio, visited last weekend with Mr. and Mrs. E,J. Reid. Mr, and Mrs, Ron MacDoug- all, Stratford are spending , their vacation at the cottage of Mrs. Ray Farr on Howard St. West. Mr. and Mrs. George Mayor, London were with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Clark in Varna for the weekend and were in the village renewing old friendships Bud Robinson left Wednesday for Gravenhurst to go pipelining again. Miss Rhea Sturgeon and Miss Marg Malott, of London were with the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J, B. Sturgeon for the weekend. Doug Allen, student Presbyt- erian Minister commenced open-air Church Services Sun- day morning at Jowett's Grove. Around sixty people attended. It is planned to make this a weekly service for the rest of the summer season. Mrs. Vera Heath and Mrs, Fred Le3eau were in Toronto from Monday to Friday as the guests of Mr, and Mrs. Fletch- er McLaughlin. Mr. and Mrs, Bob Cluff, Robert and Tara, of London, accompanied by bis nephew and niece Alfie and Mergan McLaughlin, of Toronto were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Fred LeBeau during the weekend. Rev. Lloyd Clifton Sr., of Hamilton baptised baby Kelly Elizabeth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Talbot Jr., of R, R, 3, Bayfield at the home of her parents, on Sunday, July 23. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Terry McClinchey, of London who are proud parents of a baby girl, Kelly Lynn, born Tuesday, July 18, in Victoria Hospital, London. Mrs. McClinchey is the former Cathy Wild, of Clinton. More than 100 youngsters gathered on Main Street, on Friday, July 21 to attend the Annual Paint -In sponsored by Pioneer Park Association. Though the efforts of Professor Kalbfleisch, Kate Williams and Chris and Susan Beck, these young people had a truly marvellous time. This paint - in was the brainchild of Mrs. Robin Hunter who organized it several years ago and has remained an attraction each summer. Mrs. Don Miller, of Royal Oak, Michigan, visited her sister, Mrs. Don Lance this past week. Mrs. Gerald Pence, Stephen and Robert, Rochester, Mich. , are visiting for a few days with her mother, Mrs. J. M. Atkinson. The Ladies Auxiliary to Scout, ing and Guiding held an execut- ive meeting at the home of Mrs. Don Warner to finalize plans for their 11 a. m. bake sale in front of the Imperial Bank of Commerce on Friday, August 4. The next L,A, meet- ing will be held on Tuesday, September 19, when an election of officers will be held, Cub instructors are urgently needed for September and the auxiliary ask that you give every consid- eration to help fill the need. Mr. and Mrs. J,B, Higgins spent a few days last week in Simcoe as the guests of their son and daughter-in-law and grandsons, Mr. and Mrs. James Higgins, Colin and Scott. Corporal and Mrs. Stan Smith Lea Ann and Lisa. of Camp Borden visited for the weekend with her parents Mr. and Mrs. R,J. Larson, Mr. and Mrs. Erick Krohmer of London, who recently pur- chased Cedar Grove from Mr. and Mrs. Gil Washbrook, have been very busy remodelling and decorating the restaurant. With all new kitchen equipment, panelled walls and floor carpet- ing it really shows the effort put forth, Mrs. Krohmer serves all types of food from snacks to German dishes to cabbage rolls. The couple have four children Rossita, who is 18; Dittar 16, Armand 14, and Tilo 8.
