Receives gold cord
The Hensall Girl Guides and
Brownies ended their meetings
for the year with a Mother and
Daughter Banquet, honoring
Pat Van Wieran who has receiv-
ed her Gold Cord, the highest
award a Guide can achieve,
on Thursday evening.
After a very delicious dinner
in the Fellowship Hall, Gail
Travers led in a sing -song.
Mrs, Ron Mock, chairman of
the local Association, welcom-
ed everyone and introduced the
guest of honor, Pat Van Wieran
and her guests, her mother and
father, Mr. and Mrs. Klaus
Van Wieran, her aunt, Mrs,
Anne Renkema; grandmothers,
Mrs, Dirk Van Wieran and Mrs.
R. Linstra. Some other guests
for the evening were Rev. and
Mrs. Don Beck, Mrs. B , Y.
McCreath, the Division Com-
missioner; Mrs. Robert Luxton,
Exeter's Ranger Captain and
Miss Mary McMillen, former
Area Commissioner.
Guiders, Brown Owl, Mrs.
Pat Venner, Tawny Owl, Mrs.
Joyce Pepper, and Lieutenant
Mrs. Jeanne Gladding were
introduced. Mrs. Roland Duffy
proposed a toast to the Guiders
to which Mrs. Venner replied.
Kay Mock introduced Mrs.

DonLuther, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Eric Luther, successfully
passed his first year of law at
the University of Western Ont-
ario.
Mrs, Wilbert Dilling is at
present a patient in St. Joseph's
Hospital, London, undergoing
tests.
Gail Travers, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Don Travers, has
successfully passed her Grade
Seven piano with the Royal
Conservatory of Music.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Klungel
reported this week that a very
successful bazaar and bake sale
was held last Wednesday after-
noon at the Queensway Nursing
Home. Mrs. Eva Kaiser, Hen-
sall, was the lucky winner of a
fancy dressed doll.
BUYS TOP CALF - Russ Goldstein, propriet-
or of Al's Super Save Market, Hensall, purch-
ased the top calf at the Hensall Spring Fair
last Tuesday night. To buy the prize beef he
had to pay 53 cents per pound, live weight.
Mr. Goldstein is shown here with Pam Cerno-
chan, the proud owner of the calf that walked
off with the grand championship in the Calf
Club competition.
