OBITUARIES JAMES ATKINSON A well known Seaforth resid- ent, James (Terry) Atkinson, passed away in Victoria Hospit- al, London, Wednesday, June 14, in his 55th year. Mr. Atkinson was born on January 26, 1918, in Minnedosa, Manitoba, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Walter Atkinson. He attended public and high school in Minnedosa, and later went to a Radio College in Toronto. During World War II he served overseas as a Flight Lieutenant. In September, 1945, he married the former Ina Jean Butson, and the couple had one daughter, Connie. In 1949, he and the family moved to Seaforth where he owned and operated a radio repair business. He was a memb. er of the Royal Canadian Legion, Seaforth Branch No. 156. Surviving besides his wife is a daughter, Mrs. Jim (Connie) Hewitt, Exeter; one brother, Walter and one sister Sheila, both of British Columbia. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Susan, Karen, Dawn, and Jamie Hewitt, Exeter, The body rested at the Bonth- ron Funeral Home, Hensall, where service took place on Saturday, June 17, with Rev. Glen Wright officiating. Inter- ment in Exeter Cemetery. A Legion Memorial Service was held at the Chapel Friday even- ing under the auspices of Seaf- orth Branch No. 156. Pallbearers were Les Beattie, Harold Nicholson, Ken Lingel- bach, Ray Hutchinson, Mervin Knott and Archie Dobinson. Flower bearers were Ed Daly, Don Pletsch, Lorne Lawson, and Steve Lupul. SIMON KIPFER Simon Kipfer passed away in Minnesota, on Friday, June 23, in his 34th year Surviving are six sons and two daughters; two sisters, Mrs. Nancy Kyle, Ilensall; and Mrs. Ella Desjardine, Exeter. Burial was made in Minnesota. OFFICIAL OPEING of WATERWORKS and HYDRO SUB -STATION IN HENSALL THURSDAY, JULY 6, at 7:30 p.m. by Robert E. McKinley, M.P. PUBLIC INVITED FROM 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Public Utilities Commission HENSALL JAMES R. ORR James Richard Orr, of Exeter, passed away on Saturday, June 24. Formerly of Hensall, he was in his 35th year. Surviving are his parents, Andy and Myrtle Orr, Hensall, his wife, the former Mary Dix- on; two children, Barbara and Kathryn, at home. Also surv- iving is one brother, Donald of Ottawa. The body rested at the Bon- thron Funeral Chapel, Hensall, where service was held on Tuesday, June 27, with Rev. W. Jarvis officiating. Interment was in Exeter. Cemetery. Pallbearers were Melvin Orr Jr., William Albright, John Marten, Robert Bell, James Hyde and Murray Finlayson. 0 News of i en KIPPEN EAST W.I. "Improvements you would like to see made in the neigh- bourhood, " was the roll call for the World Affairs meeting of Kippen East Women's Inst- itute when they met at the home of Mrs. Grant MacLean for the June meeting. The members mentioned improve- ments to the home, fences to surround old junk yards, old buildings to be demolished including S,S.10 Tuckersmith, air pollution from lagoons, roads improved and calcium chloride applied to all roads. In keeping with the theme "World Affiars, " Spence Cum- mings, development officer in the County, commented on the industrial, recreational, tourism, educational and social development necessary in the county. A discussion period followed. Mrs. Grant MacLean gave the motto "If your efforts are criticized you can be sure you have done something worthwhile Mrs. V. Alderdice conducted a contest. Reports were given by Mrs, S. Pepper on citizen- ship and world affairs; by Mrs. D. Triebner on agriculture and Canadian Industries; by Mrs. J. Chalmers on family and consumer affairs; by Mrs. H. Caldwell, the treasurer. Leaders and assistant leaders are urgently needed for the 4-H Girls Club, "The Third Meal, " Mrs. M. Connolly chaired the meeting, Mrs. R. Bell was co - hostess and Mrs, S. Pepper and her group served lunch. Mrs, C. Eyre gave courtesy remarks. Elzar Mousseau is a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital, London, Ed McBride has returned from Sault Ste. Marie. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Forrest have returned from a trip to Moose Jahr and Regina, Sask. Mr. and Mrs. Alex McGreg- or have returned from Ottawa. Canada Packers buyers Bill Rinn, Harold McCue and Stuart McCall at the left purchased the reserve grand champion from Murray McGregor. The Hensali Calf Club wish to express their appreciation to all the buyers who attended the Hensall-South Huron Calf Club sale last Tuesday evening and who, by their brisk bidding, made the show a success.
