Sixteen young pepple were confirmed into the Church. They were Kevin Wareing, Mike Veal, Gail Travers, Patti Rowcliffe, Gord Pryde, Cindy Parker, Doug Kyle, Dan Crerar, Beth Crerar, Steve Corbett, Kevin Buchanan, Brad Buch- anan, Ida Ann Blackwell, Linda Beer, Jeff Beck. Three young people who wished to reaffirm their vows. were Tom Travers, Debbie Miller and Joan Forrest. Tune 11 - 17 is Nursing Home Week in Ontario. This week would be an ideal chance to go to your local nursing home and visit the patients there, and also see the crafts which the patients have made. It just may make a patient's day brighter. BIBLE SOCIETY CANVASS During the past few weeks in the village of Hensall there has been a canvass for the Can- adian Bible Society, Mrs. Sim Roobol as organizer of the campaign reports that a total of $250.05 has been turned in. Canvassers from the three churches took part. They were Mrs. Rachel Schwalm, Mrs. Myrtle Orr, Mrs. Emma Camp- bell, Mrs. Ruby Hoggarth, Mrs. Irene Glanville, Mrs. Ethel Forrest, Mrs, D. Wind - over, Mts. Annie Reid, Mrs. Margaret Ingram, Mrs. Pearl Passmore, Mrs. Don Beck, Mrs. Audrey Christie, Mrs. Kay Mock and Mrs. Leona Parke. 0 Carmel women tele r to +2nd birthd y The 82nd birthday party of the Carmel Presbyterial Women1 Missionary Society was held Monday evening with Mrs. Rachel Schwalm presiding and opening with a poem "A Living Faith." The president welcom- ed everyone present, especially the guests. Mrs. Myrtle Orr and Mrs. Tory Soldan led the worship service with Mrs. Soldan read- ing scripture, and the birthday meditation and prayer, followed with a poem and prayer "The Art of Growing Old" by Mrs. Orr. The guest soloist for the evening, Mrs. Robert Hoffman, Dashwood, sang two very beautiful solos. Mrs. .Elizabeth Faber introd- uced the guest speaker, Mrs. Gordon Whitton, of St. Cather- ines, past president of the Ham- ilton -London Synodical. Mrs. Pears Love thanked Mrs. Whit- ton. Mrs. Ruby Bell introduced Mrs. W . H. Adamson, of Lond- on, past treasurer of the Hamil- ton -London Synodical, and who is presently on the National Council of Canada Board. Mrs. Adamson spoke on the current finances of the W, M. S. She was thanked by Mrs. Maggie Campbell. Hymn 373 was sung and the benediction was pronounced by Mrs. W.D. Jarvis. After the meeting a birthday cake was cut by Stewart McQueen and W .R. The Scripture reading from Corinthians was read by Mrs. Harry Caldwell. Mrs. McAllister gave the devotional on Joy, and also read an article written by Rev, George W. Goth. The topic was given by Mrs. Ernest Chipchase on life and work of Dr. Sidney Gilchrist in Africa. Mrs. Luther and Mrs. Britton sang a beautiful duet, "Amazing Grace" accompanied by Mrs. T. Sherritt at the piano. Roll call was answered by 29 members and one visitor. Mrs. Sherritt gave the Treasur- er's report. It was reported that the ladies had made 104 visits. Plans were made to cater to the banquet on June 22, and to have a dinner meeting in September. Mrs. Rowe reported for the Queensway nursing home. Mrs. Russell Errat reported on the bales sent.
