Candlelight service at Emmanuel Church
A capacity audience gathered
in Emmanuel United Church,
Zurich, on Sunday evening, in
celebration of the Christmas
season. The prelude, "The
Holy City" was an inspiring int-
roduction to an hour of carol
singing and narration.
A bank of gaily light$d Christ-
mas trees provided the foreground
setting. With lights dimmed and
candelabra glowing, the candle-
light processional was led by the
intermediate Girl's Choir, direct-
ed by Miss Meda Surerus, follow-
ed by the Senior Choir, directed
by Mrs. Milton Desch.
Mrs. Newell Geiger, as nar-
rator, outlined briefly the history
and significance of each carol
and composer. Six girls from
the Junior Church School present-
ed the Christmas Story, as found
in Luke, and sang a Christmas
song.
The congregation joined the
choirs in singing the recessional
carol hymn, "Joy to the World."
The prelude, offeratory and post
lude were performed excellently
