The game was played at Huron Park. Last night, Wednesday, the locals played in Hensall, and tonight, Thursday, they travel to Huron Park to tangle with Stephen site for ensall company Officials of Stephen town- ship announced early last week that an area grain processing firm has purchased land in the township and will be erecting a large elevator and processing plant, Last Monday morning reeve Joseph Dietrich and clerk W il- mar Wein issued a building per- mit to Cook's Division of Gerb- ro Corporation of Hensall to allow construction to begin on part of Lot 1, Concession 1 at the south-easterly edge of the town- ship. Stephen officials said the value of the building and equip- ment would be close to $700, 000. the Centralia College squad. Their next home game will be this Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. when they play host to the first place Hensall Cascades. This should be one of the best games of the season, and local fans are asked to come out and cheer their Flyers on to victory. Glen Overholt and Gerald Shantz paced the Zurich attack in the Monday night victory at Huron Park, with two goals each. Other marksmen were Paul Corriveau, Kevin McKin- non, Dick Bedard and Sob Johnston, Huron Park drew first blood in the game when Terry Mill- man shot them into a 1-0 lead at the two -minute mark. Seven minutes later Overholt tied the score at 1-1, and then 10 min- utes later Corriveau scored to give the Zurich crew a 2-1 lead at the end of the period. Two quick goals, by McKin- non and Shantz, before the seven -minute mark in the sec- ond period gave the Flyers a strong 4-1 lead, but before the middle stanza ended Rich Fun- ston and Dori Cooper both scor- ed for Huron Park, to put them right back into contention. In the third period it was Grand Bend edges, Midgets (by Doug Turkheim) Last Wednesday night saw the Zurich Midgets face their first loss of the season as they were edged out 7-6 by Grand Bend. The two big goal scorers in the game were Harry Smits, of Grand Bend and Gerald Weido, of Zurich, who each carne up with a five -goal performance. Gerald Weido opened the scoring in the first period on a play from Rick Grenier. Before the midway mark of the period Pete Backx put Grand Bend back in the game with a goal set up from Ed Grenier and Rod Willert, Grand Bend then tool< a 2-1 lead with Harry Smits scoring his first goal with Ed Grenier drawing an assist. Less than a minute later Rick Grenier and Pat Bedard set up Weido with his second goal to tie the score at 2-2 at the end of one period. The second period , saw Grand Bend jump into a 3-2 lead with Smits scoring his Thu.9 Fri. I0 Sat.11 second goal with Rod Willert and Ed Grenier again drawing assists. Minutes later, Ron Rader set up Joe Kends to put Zurich back in the game. however, after the midway mark of the period Harry Smits came up with two more unassisted goals to push Grand Bend in front 5-3 going into the third period. ' Two quick goals by Gerald Weido in the third period made it a tied hockey game once again. Pat Bedard assisted both Weido goals. Not falling behind, Grand Bend bounced back with anothergoal by Harry Smiths with Ed Grenier drawing another assist. Weido and Bedard comb- ined their efforts once again to make it a 6-6 hockey game. With only a minute and a half left in the game I -tarry Smits came up with the winning goal, assisted by Mike Caldwell and Mike Eagleson. There were six penalties called with each team drawing three. Nona trounces Peewees (by Doug Turkheim) Last Wednesday night the Zurich Pee Wees were downed by Hensall by a convincing 9-2 setback. The two teams played to a tie in the first period with Ilea - sail taking the lead on a goal by Kevin Varley. Paul Haggitt evened things on the scoreboard before the period ended. In the second period Zurich fell apart allowing their oppon- ents to score four times while holding the locals off the score - sheet. Goal scorers were Doug Consitt with a pair, while singles were added by Dave Kinsmen and Gary Moir, for Hensall. Hensall took a com- manding lead of 5-1 at the end of two periods. In the final period Doug C onsitt and Terry Caldwell each banged in a single marker to put Hensall in front, 7-1. Zurich then came back with their second and only other goal, which was an unassisted effort by Rick Bedard. However, Hensall came back with two more goals by Doug Consitt and Paul McClinchey, which gave them a convincing victory with less than a minute remaining. There were five minor pen- alties calldd with Zurich being offended three times and Hensall twice.
