Remove Prem More than 500 cans of Prem, believed to be a potential health hazard due to under- processing, have been remov- ed from the shelves of retail stores across Huron County, chief public health inspector William Empey said last Fri- day. "It's just a matter now for housewives to return any cans they might have in their pant- ries to retailers, " he said. A public warning that cans of Prem bearing serial numbers E152 to E246 inclusive might be dangerous has been circulat- ed throughout the county at the request of the medical officer of health, Dr. Frank Mills. THURSDAY, DECEMBER 9, 1971 Mr. Empey said the county health department was notified by the provincial food and drug directorate that cans of Prem, manufactured by Swift Canadian Company Ltd., were potentially hazardous. The county's three health inspectors contacted retailers throughout the area, and by last Wednesday had removed all available cans from grocers' stocks. The exact amount of Prem sold by stores in the county is not known, he said, but estim- ated it could be in the area of three cases or 72 cans. He said it is the type of prod- uct a housewife often stores away in cupboards for a long time before using it.
