OBITUARIES
MRS, CHRISTIAN GINGERICH
A resident of Zurich for many
years, Mrs. Christian Gingerich
passed away on Monday, Dec-
ember 6 at the home of her
daughter, Mrs. Allan Steckle,
R, R, 2, Zurich,
Born in Hay Township on Feb-
ruary 8, 1880, she was the form-
er Annie Baechler, a daughter
of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ivienno
Baechler. In her 92nd year,
she was one of the older resid-
ents in the village.
Prior to moving to Zurich
many years ago, Mr. and Mrs.
Gingerich farmed on the Bron-
son Line, Stanley Township.
They were married in 1900, and
he passed away some years ago.
Survivors are; Peter Gingerich,

Westlake funeral home, Zurich,
until Thursday afternoon, Dec-
ember 9, when the funeral serv-
ice will take place at the Blake
Mennonite Church, with Rev.
Cyril Gingerich officiating.
Interment will be in the church
cemetery.

MRS, ALFRED N, MEIDINGER
lust about four weeks after
observing their 50th Golden
Wedding Anniversary, Mrs.
Alfred Meidinger, of Zurich,
passed away at St. Toseph's
Hospital, London on Sunday,
December 5. A few days after
the anniversary she was taken
to South Huron Hospital, Exeter,
and then about one week ago
was transferred to St. Toseph's
hospital, in London.
The former Emily Virginia
Bedour, she was a highly -resp-
ected citizen of the village
since they retired here some
years ago. She was born in I -lay
Township on November 28,
1900, and was married on Nov-
ember 8, 1921. The couple
spent most of their married life
on the Bronson Line.
Surviving besides her husband
are four sons, Roman, R, R, 3,
Zurich; Leo, Zurich; Ivan, Zur-
ich; Stephen, Zurich; six daugh-
ters, Mrs. Paul (Marguerite)
?Lister, Detroit; Mrs. Clem
(Theresa) Regier, R,R,2, Zurich;
Mrs. Lloyd (Virginia) Denomme,
Zurich; Mrs. Gerald (Mary)
Ducharme, R,R,2, Zurich; Mrs.
Philip (Martha) Vercouterin,
Zurich Mennonite

The body rested at the West-
lake funeral home, Zurich,
until Wednesday morning when
Requiem Mass was sung at St,
Boniface Roman Catholic Church
Zurich at 11 a.m. Interment
was in the adjoining cemetery,
Father A. Durand officiated.
Prayers were said at the funeral
home on Tuesday night.

LAWRENCE REGIER
A prominent Zurich area
farmer, Lawrence Philip
Regier passed away suddenly at
his home on the Town Line,
on Wednesday, December 1,
in his 63rd year. Ile was born
in Ilay Township on December
3, 1908, a son of the late Mr.
and Mrs. 'oseph Regier. His
wife is the former Margaret
Lydia Ducliaruce.
Surviving besides his wife are
six sons, Clem, R,R.2, Zurich;
Leo, R,R.1, Beachburg; 'oseplc,
R. R. 2, Zurich; Michael, Scar-
borough; Peter, R.R.2, Zurich;
and Lawrence Jr., R.R.2, Zur-
ich; five daughters, Mrs. Clare
(Lucille) Masse, R.R.3, Zurich;
Mrs. Jerry (Patricia) Boland,
London; Mrs. Peter (Cecilia)
Kieley, Niagara Falls, N. Y.;
Mrs. Peter (Theresa) Salvador,
London; and Mrs. George
(Gloria) Degregorio, London.
There are also 60 grandchildren
and seven great grandchildren.
Also surviving are four brothers,
John, Seaforth; George, R. R. 3,
Zurich; Edwin, R.R. 3, Zurich;
Anthony, Detroit; and one
sister, Mrs. Ted Denomme,
Zurich.
The body rested at the
Westlake funeral home, Zurich,
until Saturday morning, Dec-
ember 4, when Requiem Mass
was sung at St. Peter's Roman

ed special music for the song
service on Sunday evening led

The Wingham Woman's Inst-
itute were hosts for the Decemb-
er Birthday Party held in the
auditorium on Wednesday aft-
ernoon. Following the program
of Christmas carols reading and
musical numbers, the ladies
presented gifts to the celebrants.
Birthday cake and refreshments
were served to about 100 resid-
ents and guests attending the
party.
The McQuaid fancily of Sea -
forth and Junior Girls from the
Walton United Church provided
the program for Family Night,
Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred McQuaid
with violin and piano along
with their sons Norman and
Bernard on electric guitars play -
Catholic Church St. Joseph,
at 11 a.m. Interment was in
the adjoining cemetery. Father
A. Robert officiated,
ed several musical numbers and
step dancing by Anne Marie and
Madonna. The Junior Girls
program directed by Mrs.
Docking included a one -act play
by Pattie McDonald, Jane
Liemisng, Mary Searle and
Susan Murray. Piano solos,
Susan Murray, Sandra, Dennis,
Quintet, Jennifer Kirby, Ruth
Thamer, Mary Watson, Carolyn
McClure, Beth McNichol and
several selections by the chorus.
Miss Ina Gray thanked the ent-
ertainers on behalf of the resi-
dents.
