carloads of glass. Other comp-
onents used in the plant include,
vinyl, 400, 000 lbs.; screen,

The history of the company
itself dates back before confed-
eration, although the owners
and the name has changed. In
1928 the mill was first purchas-
ed by Thomas I<ltimpp, and
then in 1939 the same mill was
totally destroyed by fire. The
same year it was rebuilt, and
then in 1948 the company
moved into wood window man-
ufacturing at the Dashwood
location. Eleven years later
the retail lumber end of the
business was sold to Conklin
Luinber, and the plant was
devoted entirely to the manuf-
acture of wood windows.
Four years later, in 1963,
the company bought a plant at
Mt. Brydges, with 33, 000 sq.
ft. of space. The next year the
first phase of construction at
Centralia was under way with
about 40, 000 sq. ft. In 1966
the second phase of construction
began at the Centralia site,
and the following year the third
section was built, with another
28, 000 sq. ft. involved.
In 1968 a branch was opened
in Ottawa, and then in 1970
the fourth stage of the Centralia
plant was under way. In the
same year a branch was opened
in Toronto. This year, the
firm has acquired a B.C. firm,
Western Glass and Windows Ltd.
President of the company is
Maurice Klumpp, while his
brother, Howard, is the vice-
president. Jim Finnen is the
general manager, while his
brother, Jerry, is sales manager,
A native of the Grand Bend
area, Jerry Kading, is the pers-
onnels manager of the firm.
