JOYCE PEPPER, CORRESPONDENT Some members of the Hensall Ladies Legion Auxiliary, along with members of the Exeter Ladies Legion Auxiliary, visited Westminister Hospital, in Lond- on recently, and distributed gifts and played games of bingo. Those attending from Hensall were, Mrs. Ernie Davis, Mrs, Gordon Munn, Ivirs. Mary Taylor and Mrs. Clarence Reid. FUN AND GAMES A fun and games night was held December 4, in Hensall United Church, with members of the congregation taking part. After much discussion, it was decided to plan a bowling party to be held on January 15. It is hoped that more people from the congregation will try to attend this event. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Erb, lvlr. and Mrs. William Lee, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Erb and family, Mr. and Mrs. George Walker and Mrs. Nancy Koehler, attended Emmanuel United Church in Zurich, on Sunday, when William Robert infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Erb, received the rights of baptism, Mrs. Grace llarpole left this week to spend Christmas with her family in Ottawa. While there, she also plans to visit Florida for a winter vacation. Captain John R. Beer, Camp Borden, and Dave Beer, London, spent the weekend with Mr. and Airs. Fred Beer and Mr. and Mrs. George Beer and family of Hensall. 0 Visit shut-ins On Sunday afternoon, the Kinette Club of Hensall visited the Queensway Nursing Home, Huronview Ilome, the Blue Water Rest home, and shut-ins in the village of Hensall. Poinsettia plants, gifts and fruit baskets were distributed as well as season's greetings expressed to all. In one year there are approximately 200, 000 units shipped out of the plant. The history of the company itself dates back before confed- eration, although the owners and the name has changed. In 1928 the mill was first purchas- ed by Thomas I<ltimpp, and then in 1939 the same mill was totally destroyed by fire. The same year it was rebuilt, and then in 1948 the company moved into wood window man- ufacturing at the Dashwood location. Eleven years later the retail lumber end of the business was sold to Conklin Luinber, and the plant was devoted entirely to the manuf- acture of wood windows. Four years later, in 1963, the company bought a plant at Mt. Brydges, with 33, 000 sq. ft. of space. The next year the first phase of construction at Centralia was under way with about 40, 000 sq. ft. In 1966 the second phase of construction began at the Centralia site, and the following year the third section was built, with another 28, 000 sq. ft. involved. In 1968 a branch was opened in Ottawa, and then in 1970 the fourth stage of the Centralia plant was under way. In the same year a branch was opened in Toronto. This year, the firm has acquired a B.C. firm, Western Glass and Windows Ltd. President of the company is Maurice Klumpp, while his brother, Howard, is the vice- president. Jim Finnen is the general manager, while his brother, Jerry, is sales manager, A native of the Grand Bend area, Jerry Kading, is the pers- onnels manager of the firm.
