Appointed Conklin manager
A former Dashwood resident
and presently living in Goclerich,
Ken Keller has been appointed
to the position of manager of
Conklin Lumber Company Ltd.
branch in the county town. The
appointment was announced
last week by Ted Webb, the
district manager for the same
company.
Born in Dashwood 40 years
ago, Mr. Keller is the son of
the former Frieda Deichert,
and the late Ed Keller. His
wife, a columnist in the Cit-
izens News each week, is the
former Shirley Pearson, of
Clinton. They have three
children, a son Randy, 15, a
daughter, Lori, 13 and a son
Jim, 5.
Mr. Keller lived all his life
in Dashwood until moving two
years ago to Goderich with the
Conklin organization. Ile was
assistant manager at Exeter for
six years and assistant manager
and then acting manager at
Goderich for two years. Prior to
joining the Conklin chain, he
worked as a carpenter at Cent-
ralia CFB, and before that he
worked for Stewart Webb and
Sons in the landscaping business,
' The Keliers are members of
Zion Lutheran Church, Dash-
wood, and Mr. Keller is also
a member of the Goderich Kins-
men Club.
Mr. Webb, who has been
named district manager for
Conklin Lumbertompany, is
also a native of Dashwood. He
is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Milt-
on Webb, and his wife is the
former Eleanor Becker. Along
with their two children, Wendy
and Michelle, they also reside
in Goclerich.
In his capacity as district
manager, Mr. Webb is in
charge of Conklin yards at
Owen Sound, Kincardine,
Southampton, Goderich, Grand
Bend, Exeter and Thedford.

Floyd McAsh of Hamilton
spent the weekend at the home
of his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
John McAsh.
Mr. and Mrs. Nick Whyte,
David, Crystal and Brian, of
Seaforth visited Sunday with
Mr. and Mrs. Fred McClymont.
EXPLORER GROUP
The Explorer Group met last
Tuesday evening with 12 mem-
bers present. The president
Bev Cantelon, opened the
meeting. Scripture lesson was
read by Tanis Chuter, Prayer
was led by Janice Webster.
The roll call was answered by
drawing a picture of the Liber-
ian flag. Offering was taken up
by Janice Webster, Mrs. Eric
Chuter was in charge of the
craft period. The president
closed the meeting with the
Explorer prayer.
The annual bazaar and tea,
which is one of the highlights of
the year at Huronview, was quite
successful last week with the
largest attendance on record.

Huronview Women's Auxiliary,
features many different arts and
crafts made during the year by
the residents.
The residents of l luronview
were entertained on Thursday,
Family Night to a program from
Goderich, arranged by Mrs.
Harrison, I Liss Campbell showed
pictures of a world tour that she
had taken last year which were
enjoyed by everyone. There
were several vocal duets by Mrs.
Harrison and vlrs. Lindsay
accompanied by Ed Stiles and
guitar solos by Larry Ryan.
Mrs. Mary Johnson, who by the
way is 97 years old, and a great
grandmother of Larry Ryan,
thanked the group for the very
pleasant evening.

Golden Glimpses . . , . .
I am sure most of us have •
been enjoying what would appear
to be Indian Summer after our
rather blustery weather of a week
ago, but looking back over the
records, it seems that our weath-
erman is doling out much the
same weather as we were having
at this time last year.
Last Monday evening, the
films shown were "A Double in
Bluefin, " I am sure our fishing
' enthusiasts would have enjoyed
this tuna fishing success story.
The other film, " Japan I Iarvests
the Sea, " described the life and

MRS, DOLPI I ALLEN
A well known resident of
the Manitoulin district, (Selma
Emily Elizabeth Alien, wife
of Dolph Allen, passed away
at St. Joseph's hospital, Little
Current, November 10.
Prior to tier death, N1rs.
Allen was an active member
in the United Church, Nlanit-
owaning where she had resided
for 37 years. She also belonged
to the Sr. Citizens Club, Child
ren's Aid Society, Agricultural
Societies and took a great int-
erest in activities in tlrr com-
m unity .
Beside her husband she leaves
to mourn a host of friends and
several nieces and nephews in
California, England, New
Zealand, Australia, and Zur-
ich. •
Funeral service was held
from Westlake Funeral time,
Zurich, on Saturday, Novem-
ber 13. Interment was in the
United Church Cemetery.

Friday evening was again bingo
night and refreshments were
enjoyed following the bingo

The sympathy of both resid-
ents and staff goes out to the
family of the late Mrs. Eva
Delbridge who passed away
suddenly in South Huron Hospit-
al. Time rolls by, and we are
approaching the fifth anniversary
of the opening of our Home, and
again the Ladies Auxiliary will
be having their fifth annual
bazaar and tea to be held on
Saturday, November 20, in the
dining -room. If any of our
readers wish to donate the items
for the bake sale or bazaar
table, I know they will be grate-
fully received;.
On Sunday afternoon the res-
idents enjoyed the music prov-
ided by the lvlennonite M.Y.F.
and we will look forward to
their more frequent visits.
